Salt in the wound to me waiting till January... ah well, got a batphone that Amazon is supposed to start putting 50-100k up a day starting soon though, so if that's true hopefully should be able to get in on that... for my "no willpower ass"...
Not sure how much I'm gonna play it on too hardcore until Thief though - that looks to be the first non-crossgen besides the minis I really want to play a ton.

The reason why it's #1 right now is because of the Day One pre-orders they opened up on Wednesday from all the cancelers. Amazon isn't even taking PS4 orders right now so it's impossible for it to be #1 right now.

They've apparently gotten the shipment in for the rest of the year, but are going to disperse them with a limit that's going to last till Xmas with a few every day... technically the number was a guess on my part - although probably should be one less zero really thinking about it - don't think they got 1 million just for themselves to sell. More realistic that they would have like 5-10k a day.
Was still processing the tip and didn't do any math on it. But absolute that was stated was "They're only getting 1 replenishment by Xmas, it's already arriving at the Amazon shipping centers - but that they'll be allocated per day" - the daily numbers was a guess, that thinking rationally about how many they'd be getting is way too high. But a few a day for people to try for - which will be quite cool if accurate. Just met my source within the past two weeks though (my interviewer for an HR position for the shipping center they're building nearby) so no clue on how accurate she is about things, she is a gamer though - so actually knows the item more than just it's name though.
Guesstimate how many you think they'd get in their wave 2 shipment divide by 20ish (since we don't know the start date and obviously they'll stop by Dec 20th or so with Xmas in mind - and likely is still a few days out from starting) if you want to do a numbers guess yourself - if this is accurate.
And for the lazy readers - 50k-100k was a guess on my part not their quote and I was just requoting excitedly without thinking into the total numbers.... I expect their wave 2 is 250k units tops after reconsidering - which would be 10kish a day.

Listed above, the person that's will be my immediate manager if I get hired that I met (and interviewed) last week - no clue on how valid her info is, maybe she's giving me false hope - no clue.
She's a fellow gamer and really played up the "you're missing out, keep checking to see when we restock daily" card when I asked her the sidenote of how she was enjoying her PS4 while she was setting up my followup interview earlier. (with someone different though - at least I won't have to drive to DE for the followup)
Now explain to me why a company like Amazon would sit on a huge shipment of PS4's and trickly them out 5-10k a day? Any kind of half assed explanation will be accepted except that would be grade A retarded of them to do. Amazon isn't in the business of sitting on stock and never have been.

Don't ask me, only requoting what she said - maybe she's full of shit and giving me false hope. I'll be checking once or twice a day to see, and if she's right - great, if not - oh well. I don't claim to know anything about them, only relaying what I've been told by management (and HR at that, not sure how much data she'd have on specifics - I know in my companies I'd have to do extra legwork to get data like that - and she gave it off the cuff which does seem odd) at a single shipping center.
[Although one good reason to stagger could be the shipping issues they had, there's been reports of doing special packaging for PS4's and them having to do extra legwork for replacements - a slow release would make handling issues easier than a massive burst... but that's just speculation on my part]

They also could not have known that so they would have shipped every single console of their initial batch. You claim they got all of theirs in one shipment and decided to hold some back.

There was an article I read earlier on them changing how they're PACKAGING PS4 shipments, not that they had problems with shipping times - that they're adjusting the packaging to make sure that they don't get damaged during shipping. (Amazon ships replacement PS4 packaging - GeekWire) And she was talking about Wave 2 shipment that is starting to show up, not that there's leftovers from the Pre-Order Wave 1 - pretty sure I worded that clearly that this is in reference to a NEW WAVE not the original wave.
And note: while looking up that article (I'd seen it on the phone while in the waiting room for our therapist earlier) - there's other articles mentioning that allocation for the UK launch has extra units on Amazon.uk just as an interesting sidenote. (Don't think our Waves and theirs would coincide, being that whole ocean thing...)
