it's going to beextremelyconvenient for anyone that already has cable service to be able to switch from game -> TV and back without having to fuck with things like inputs. I'm really looking forward to it.
Yeah, because pressing "INPUT 1" on the remote is such a chore. Inevitably you know there will be a critical point in a game where your absolute concentration is necessary, and the thing will pick up background noise and switch to TV mode causing you to die and nerd rage. That will be the end of that feature ever getting enabled again.

Xbox One HDD is non-removeable. It does support external USB HD's though.

Unless Killer Instinct 3 is released on Xbox One I will be getting a PS4. I already have a DVR and none of that TV stuff interests me at all. It's even more funny when you consider that cable cutting is becoming more and more common. By the end of this generation cable cutting is going to be very very common.

The Xbox One install features pretty much assure the Playstation is the default console for Fighting game tourney's again.

Or investing in a decent remote like the Logitech series that actually handle resetting everything for you (Seriously my Logitech Harmony 900 was like... $80 I think... maybe $100) - I can only imagine it will work with some devices and not others - will it control your amplifier appropriately across other inputs for example? Probably not, or at diminished quality if you have a THX quality one.

What a great feature to have in a console that can be done with a remote instead without worries of "Oops I didn't mean for you to hear that, stupid console" for pretty cheap compared to the console. (And note, the 900 was the mid-range on the Harmony remotes, I think they start at 500/$60 for the ones that manage multiple devices per button)

At first I was laughing at the hardcore MS apologists. Now I am convinced theres some hardcore trolling afoot.

I'm impartial and reserving judgment till more concrete info is available, but fuck if that event wasn't terrible.

The judgments against the Xbox are kind of ridiculous.

For every person saying "OH I JUST WANT A GAMING CONSOLE NOT SOME FAGGY MEDIA CENTER - I ALREADY HAVE A PC FOR THAT" is a person asking "Why would I want a console exclusively for gaming when I already have a faster and better gaming PC? I need a media center to easily integrate with my various needs and content".

It isn't so much as Microsoft taking on Sony, as it is Microsoft taking on Sony and Apple TV. They have their own business strategy and Sony has theirs.

I personally find Microsoft's take on home entertainment much more useful and appealing.

The game suspends when it switches, I don't think it keeps going in the background while you're doing something else.

Clearly this is supposition - and a supposition that will certainly be wrong for any online multiplayer games. (Since those won't pause under any circumstances obviously)

Yeah, that's a good point. MP games will cause rage. Oh god can you imagine the people screaming online while playing Halo?

That was covered in the "reporting article" via update already Doc. Although the twitter thing doesn't include the statement that they'll have to login with your account in order to do so. [Which is a weird change in stance for Xbox Live - they used to be anti ANY account sharing - and with the full install, no DVD in drive needed thing seems to open a huge can of worms with people just sharing logins with friends and rotating them not even having to run across town/the street/whatever to trade games around... either there's a huge abuse able loophole here or they're leaving some details out that are going to diminish this turd shining they're trying to do]

Yup I can just see it now. Want to lend your copy of COD to a friend? Buy a lend-a-game redemption code for $10! You heard it here first!

So people are complaining about how they'll accidentally give voice commands? Are folks actually thinking they're going to make the commands just common shit you'd say in normal conversation. I know when I'm playing CoD I routinely say things like "Cover the helipad XXXweinerking04XXX and lay down some XBOX DVR PLAY DOWNTON ABBY" and then it just randomly takes my normal conversation and interrupts the game!

Fuckin' Obama...

Nah, the thing earlier and this one both said it would be 100% free to lend (with "your login" caveat) - that's not going to be what they do.

And the earlier thing was quoting for a "longterm loan" under their login it would be full price for a new title (presumably sliding scale with time after release or current price on the digital store).

One of my friends has a Kinect, and he has to unplug it every time we hang out at his place. People constantly yell commands at it just to fuck with whoever is playing games/watching tv/etc.

It's usually pretty funny, but I can see people getting pissed if the old Halo-type tournaments come back and people mess with it.

Well it's either going to be "long commands to the point of being useless" (like the above you imply) since longer commands will require more memorization of stupid script to talk to the system (plus longer input time) and more chances for the voice recognization to screw up at one or more points which makes it pointless compared to something like a Harmony remote or it's going to be too simplistic and subject to being "too sensitive".
