I think it's pretty safe to expect the dev kit controller to have all the functionality of the PS4 controller without being the final design.

As for streaming games Gaikai / OnLive style, I remember the people trying those being pleasantly surprised. That said, latency is unavoidable, making twitchy games a no-no and text + video compression seems like a straight path to violent headaches... unless they use some sort of "clever" compression system (like upload the main fonts of the game to the PS4 and then use an algorithm that detect the text in the video stream and replace that area with a bitmap created by the PS4 using the uploaded font). Or maybe I am making an issue of something that wasn't one?
I hope you're right and the Move light goes away. The touchpad probably won't change a whole lot though.

Gaikai doesn't have nearly as bad artifacting as OnLive because they only shoot for 30fps, which shouldn't be a problem with PS3 games since the vast majority are capped at that to begin with. Assuming you have good internet service muddy fonts will be a trivial concern compared to input latency, unless you're just using it to play TBS games and the like. Still not a service I'd ever be interested in unless they include it in PSN+ at no extra cost (yeah, right).

More interested in instant game demos and trials rather than streaming PS3 games, since there's no reason that will be free.

Rentals and stuff via streaming could be an interesting innovation too as long as you can try it out and make sure latency, legibility of text, etc aren't an issue.

Used the instant demo of Tera using a Gaikai streaming client briefly, was very impressed.

Some games you'd never want to play streamed, like anything competitive. However shit like RPGs, puzzle types, action adventure, and most others that have no online functionality - then it really doesnt matter. FPS, most sports, and generally all fighters you'd steer clear from in terms of streaming.

The only thing shitty about the DS3 is the tension on the springs on L2/R2, and the fact that the triggers aren't concave.
Pretty much this. What I'd want is a Dual Shock 3 controller, with 360 type triggers, and that'd be the perfect controller. I have the clip-ons that make the DS3 triggers concave, which is almost enough, though that doesn't change the tension on the triggers.

Well 465.00 is 135.00 less than the PS3 at launch.

Right but I was referring to the fact that there has been a little wager going on about the price point of $400 between Harfle and Sean. Something about Harfle buying it for him if it was under 400 but is that US or Imaginary monies.

I'd be shocked if both the PS4 and 720 don't start in the $400-$450 range.

If MS offers a subscription plan, it'll A) be $200 and $15/24 months, and B) not launch until after the Holidays so they can maximize the early adopter money.

Edits: I prefer the PS2controller. What sexual orientation does that make me?

As to Gaikai, it worked surprisingly well if you were near their servers, and mediocrely elsewhere. If Sony has any clue they will initially lock it behind the PS+ paywall as a strictly bonus feature until they can evaluate how well it scales with added users/geographical area.

As to mandatory Kinect2, it all depends on what "calibrated" means (and entails). If they even need 3 feet in front of the cameras free at all times, they are out of their minds and guaranteed last place. If they need it once, they will probably get significant consumer complaints but will still be a valid product. If its smart enough to just use the microphone, or just the top half of players (if someone is laying down on a bed with the console nearby), then there won't be an issue.

As to conspiracy theories about the Kinect2, if it fed stills or even a stream back to MS, the EU would be so up MS' ass in a heartbeat. MS might be dumb enough to try it, but it wouldn't stay active beyond one week or so before it was sued out of commission.

PS4 will be $399.99 and Harfle is totally going to owe me one.

X720 will probably be $399.99 and a $99 + 2 year lease plan.

You pay $99 up front and then pay a monthly fee for 2 years and you get a Xbox and 2 years of live. They already have this plan going with the X360 and it's clearly been a test for using it on the X720.

It's available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Gamestop, etc currently. They will definitely continue this with the next console.

Lease to own, rent to own, whatever you want to call it. Same over-paying crap that you do at a place like Aaron's.

Needs out of the box mouse/keyboard support or I'm not buying one until 3rd party accessories come out that add said support.

Can I get in on this Harfle Purchase PlanT ? That sounds like the best way to get this new console.
