On PS4 Used from a bit back - while yes it's an indicator that there's going to be some form of used protection - assuming it will be mandatory is contradictory to SCEA's own statements on the matter. It's not impossible for say SCEA titles to not be "used locked" while EA games are or whatever other companies you prefer to use.

It doesn't even mandate every game by a company to follow suit - say EA really wants to make sure people don't go "Used" with their PS4 CoD copies (I don't play it, don't shoot me if it's not EA) but at the same time don't care if people sell their sports titles as "Used" since the demand for off-season sports is so minimal. Etc. Etc.

Sure, voluntary COULD be picked up by every single publisher but assuming it will be at this point isn't sensible.

If the DRM is up to the publishers I can see that ending up a lot worse off than what MS is pitching and without the benefits of being able to re-download retail-purchased games, discless access all your installed games, etc. Sony does have that 'pair a disc with a console' patent.

I think one compromise to the MS plan would be to bypass the online checks for people w/ the disc in the drive. Traveling or w/o internet then somehow allowing the disc to substitute as the required periodic check.

Sony CEO plays down 'media hub' and says PlayStation 4 is for gamers
Not surprising at all considering the PS3 was marketed as a living room computer that could do anything including playing games, which they ended up butchering the functionality of due to piracy concerns. Of course they'd try to steer the other direction in the next generation.

Re-DL is pointless if you still have the disc... and SCEA hasn't stated if they're mandating "disc in drive" to date yet - not that I've known anyone who's been dismayed at putting a disc in the drive this entire generation besides myself with 360. (Because I had so many drives fail on me...)

KI was cool in the arcades due to the CGI full-motion intros and graphics, but the fighting system itself is pretty lame and gimmicky compared to the other fighters of its day.
Yup. KI is kind of a joke competitively. Street Fighter players look at it kind of like CS players look at Halo.

The only thing I remember about KI was trying to get 100 hit combos or something else equally outrageous.

I'm no fighting game snob and I think KI was overrated shit. Cheese combos galore, sluggish controls, the only thing it had going for it was it was cool looking and C-C-C-Combo Breaker. Might was well come in here bragging on Clay Fighter or Primal Rage.

We've owned both ps3 and 360 nearly since launch, and had to replace them at least once. If it's a cross platform game we always pick the version that is the best resolution. It's usually a wash between the two systems on how many are for 1080.

I doubt we'll be buying both the next Gen consoles at launch. We'll probably look ahead to see which exclusive titles are available in the short term and base our decision on that. I'm not really interested in the arguments for which system is better because so much can still change.

If anything we should be taking bets on which system has the red ring issues first and if it's bad enough to develop it's own phrase and industry standard.

I've never had to replace my ps3 that i had since launch, but that is prly due to the fact i turn it on once every 3 months or so. I have 4 xbox's 2 newer 2 older and one of the older ones stopped playing games for a while then magically started again. One of my newer xbox's likes to say the disc is unreadable every so often at the worse possible times. It will suck if these new $450+ systems have issues like that in a short term time frame.

Yeah I sold my PS3 about 6 months back so I could make max profit off of it.

That XBLA shit is insane, many games I bought on PSN because I thought it would be like steam where I would always fucking have them but I guess not. That will definitely affect what digital games I buy in the future from either marketplace. Shit that was a impulse buy before will really make em think twice.

Just wait until the same games you already bought inevitably pop up on whatever bullshit new marketplace they're coming out with (does anyone actually doubt this is going to happen?). Want to play them on the Xbone? Fuck you, you need to fucking buy them again, fuck you very much.

Sorry Microsoft, not playing your bullshit game.

Yeah man, developers don't deserve any money at all for porting their games to new architecture.

You'd think being able to continue to sell the game on new Xbox would be a good idea on it's own. 5+ more years of shelf life
