So....
I managed to get a PS4 using that Wii alerts thing that Nester pointed out (+nets good sir) but my system appears to be totally broken.
Probably around 75% of the time, it just flashes blue and never starts up. When it does start up, it is not playing well with the rest of my home theater. It refuses to output the display correctly. I have a 1080p plasma, it does not give me 1080 as a resolution choice (grayed out). My PS3 is outputting 1080p fine. If I put it on 720p, the display is way off. Probably about 20% of the right hand side of my screen is blank and 20% of the left hand side of the screen is off the screen. If I didn't put that into words correctly, just say the display is not centered. While I see the option in display settings to enlarge/shrink the display area, I don't see an option for moving it left/right. If I put it in 480p it also starts freaking out after about 5-10 mins. My TV will just start flashing random colors (sort of like when a video card is crashing, I get the random colors and artifacts etc all over the screen) and going into standby every 5 seconds. I thought maybe this was because I use an HDMI switch, but I hooked it up straight to my TV and I have the same problem.
Additionally, I have a Panasonic professional series plasma, which means it has no speakers. When I hooked the HDMI cable straight to the TV, I had to switch to the optical out for audio straight to my receiver. When the display output starts going crazy, the audio does the same. When the display goes blank/cuts out, the audio cuts out and the light on my receiver that signifies that it's receiving a signal turns off. The audio will then start cutting in and out every 5 seconds with horrible static in between bouts of audio. The wierdest thing is that the video output failing and the audio output failing are not in sync; they are independently failing. The video can be outputting fine while I'm getting nothing but static through audio and the audio can be playing fine while my TV says it's not receiving a signal. Both issues crop up at the same time it seems like (after about 5 mins) so they're clearly related, but like I said at any given second 1 can be working while the other is not.
So yeah...audio and video work for about 5 minutes (and only at 480p) and then the whole thing starts going crazy and essentially not outputting anything. Maybe it's overheating somehow? I dunno, this thing is a piece of shit. I'm going to take it over to a friend's house to test it there and see if maybe it's just something with my setup, but otherwise I guess I get the joy of trying to get it replaced from Toys R Us. Since it was an online purchase and not a store pickup or anything, I'm sure that's going to be exceedingly fun and take an exceptionally long time.
