If my rumor I got was accurate this one plus the Dec 3 quantity were quoted as a huge quantity. $400 item huge quantity and most Xmas shopping for big items already done... 18 hrs seems reasonable on a pricy popular item.
Heck as Sz said one selling per second or so. That's one per minute per state. If that happened straight through the whole 18 hrs that's a mammoth number. 50kish I think - just woke up no promises on math off my head.

Just FYI, Target is apparently offering 10% off everything in their store this weekend (Dec 21 & 22)to make up for their credit card security breach. Might be a good time to snag a system that normally you'd never see any sort of discount or coupon for yet. Thats $50 off an XBOne.

the 10% off does not apply to xbone/ps4, video games, and basically anything a guy would want to buy in target. except maybe doritos and mountain dew. it does apply to 3ds xl and Wii U, but do that today since I think 3ds xl is still $150 @ target until end of today (sat).
also best buy has gotten a big shipment of PS4s, most are reserving for sunday but a few just started selling them last night, may wanna go into your BB and see wassup if you missed amazon. If its sunday only, getting there 1 or 2 hours before opening should get you one, since the same thing happened last sunday. walmart is probably doing something similar.
honestly though unless you are trying to buy your kids love or something there is absolutely no reason to get a ps4 or xbone right now, the games are pitiful and don't look to get better for a long while. get a better pc and join the master race

As it stands, I have a Vita (never use), a Wii U (use a bit), a PS4 (use a bit) and a PS3 (used a lot but now sitting while I play through some other games).
Between working 5 days a week and only playing games when my daughter is asleep, it really keeps my play time at a stop. What is the incentive to buy this outside of it's less than it normally is?

This was an exaggeration (based on a spike possibly). In the end, they sold the last 900ish in under one hour, but it's very difficult to estimate from that how many were sold in total, because of the time at which it occurred, how the word spread, etc. We'll have to wait to know more.
