Thanks for the heads up on the target 10% picked up a wii u today for $245 (came with a $25 gc I used on a pre planned Xmas gift.)
The wii finally has games I want to play, I really tried hard to convince myself I should get a ps4 (or maybe even xbone) but the only game I want on those platform I have on ps3 already, and the only 2 games I am looking forward too (ff13-3 & ds2) are on ps3. I am sure I will buy a ps4 down the road but it just does not make sense for me currently.

I have my Wii U and I've been playing it a lot. However, I'm doing so to play Mario Galaxy 2. I bought it the day it was released, and it sat on the shelf until recently. I'll get through it then move on to possibly The Last of Us. But then again, I also have LA Noir sitting there unplayed. I can't decide if that's worth spending the time to play, though.

Something has been bothering me about PS4. I get that console launches have thin game line ups. But there isn't a single fantasy game or RPG to play on this thing. I am looking around for someone to throw my money at and there is nothing there. Trine doesn't really count either.
What's on the radar fantasy RPG wise?

I mean like Q1-Q2. I'll be getting Thief even though stealth games really aren't my bag. 50% because its fantasy genre and there isn't anything else to play.
You would think someone would have foreseen this and put something out in this time frame. Fantasy RPG's are a rather large genre to not have a single offering, there would have been money to be made here.

Thenearestannounced RPG looks to be June 2014 with The Elder Scrolls Online. If that is really the tipping point for you then their probably isn't a reason for you to buy a PS4 prior to then. This is assuming that PS4's will be widely in stock by then which I think is a easy bet.
Edit: FFXIV Online is also coming out if that interests you. If you care about a variety of games then 2014 should be a hell of a year for PS4 and XB1 gamers alike.

That's cause a lot of the RPGs coming out next year are still on PS3. Persona, Dark Souls, Tales of whatever it is(there's Xillia 2 but the next one is also PS3 and is probably like 2015 over here), Lightning Returns, not too sure about FFXV.

I'm really hoping some kind of backwards compatibility shows up for the PS4 eventually. I never owned a PS3 but since getting my PS4 I have "bought" ever free PS Plus PS3 title that has come up. I'd have one hell of a good day if they announced backwards compatibility support.
This will never happen for technical reasons.
RPGs have longer lead times on development. They are still coming out on the PS3 because that was the only possibility when development started.

My PS4 quit accepting disks today (constantly ejects them). I checked it out, and it seems to be a pretty common problem. Through the years I've had two PS2s and an Xbox pull similar shit and stop reading disks; this will be my last console. I'm tired of getting burned because these assholes want to save a buck on the optical drive.

What is your theory on what Ramar is doing wrong?
Optical drives have a high (relatively) failure rate. Can't you just crack open the console and swap out for a different drive?

I've owned every console there was, for the most part, and have never had any optical drive issues in the first 5 or so years of owning the systems. I did get the RROD on my 360, but besides that, all my consoles lasted me well past any warranty period. That's some bad luck Ramar has.
