I played the game for a while to decide for myself if it was worth buying. Ended up stopping shortly after the prologue with zero interest in continuing. None of the characters, including the family you're supposed to be saving, are compelling at all. The combat is basically just a knockoff of the shitty system in KCD.
The timer is the only thing unique or interesting about the game, and unfortunately that's not really meant as a compliment. Just based on how the prologue goes I could already see how it would annoy the shit out of me after a while. There's two quests in the prologue that essentially give nothing of value besides a lesson in 'morality'; like whether you want to deal out corporal punishment to some asshole kid who talks shit about your family, or deciding whether or not to help slaughter a pig. Once you identify those two quests as being completely worthless and note that one of the other quests doesn't have an expiration on it, you're free to complete everything else in the prologue without issue. I didn't play long enough to say this is 100% the case, but I strongly suspect that that's how the entire game is going to go. And I also know that anytime I finish a quest and the reward is shit, I would want to reload my save to avoid it rather than eat the loss of time. At the same time, I think modding it out would be completely retarded because it's literally what holds the whole game together. Might as well just go play Tainted Grail, Gothic 1 remake, or wait for TW3 remastered if you're going to do that.
All in all, this is the most disappointing "game that I was really looking forward to" since Dying Light 2. At least this time I figured it out before pissing away $70.
