The allusions to MAGA and counter woke culture are so lazy and one dimensional in this show. I feel like the script just includes buzzwords for the sake of liberal zeitgeist. Script feels like it was pushed through woke AI.

It being that on the nose is the point. Everyone knows its over the top but Homelander loves it and everyone is scared shitless of him lol. Like the Freedom Center forcing people to watch films where Homelander is the hero on the daily, its retarded but it plays into his vanity.

It may be dumb but it certainly made sense. It was set up from the very beginning. It is the reason Homelander begins losing his sanity because the pictures exist of events he doesn't remember.
