It's a boring trainwreck, but we just can't help sticking around to see how it ends. The asian chick suddenly interrupting conversations with, "Shit-smeared-asses-spraying-shit-oh-and-cocks-and-cunts..." etc. had us shaking our heads. Incredibly, sign language and having to read subtitles somehow was better than having her speak.

Something about this season is off for sure.
I cannot tell if it's the pacing, or plot changes, or unnecessary new characters this late in the game.
It feels like it's basically treading water leading up to the last episode.
This could have been a 2 hour special at this point, but I guess I have to stick around and see how it ends.

I am right there will the people who say this feels disjointed. It's like they have too many story lines they want to wrap up but they don't put enough effort into any of them leaving you just not really fucking caring.
Man if only they had some source material to draw from with a frame by frame telling of the story, a story good enough they decided to buy it adapt it, then throw it in the dumpster fire and go ten types of Tengu on the script...
There should be a clause in every purchase of source material that is some goblin wants to re-write it he gets tossed into a woodchipper.

The problem is the source material for the boys is bad. current show isn’t good but I doubt we would have ever had a season 2 if they did the source material

Source material was ok for its time. Its just that the woke psyop went public shortly after its run, so its kind of in this half assed middle space and Rogan and Garth tried to turn it into Orange Man Bad the series, kind of like they sort of did with Preacher. And to make matters worse, they are changing shit around to fulfill some fanfic fantasy version that deviates completely from the source material. Maeve getting to live is a pretty massive alteration that most fans of the original book take notice, but that shit was going on before that with the funbling of Black Noir, the entire A Train BLM sympathy arc, and completely dumpstering Butchers entire past history with how his wife died.
The cast is not helping much on that front, either. I mean, I was prepared to accept the possibility that that starlight actress might have had a medical reason for getting face altering surgery, but any benefit of the doubt went out the window when she decided to also have a massive rack installed at the same time. Everyone working on this show has some personal virtue signaling going on. The show runners genuinely hate that Homelander is everyone's favorite character. It does not remotely help that Karl Urban and Anthony Starr are the only two talented actors on the entire show, unless you want to somehow count flavor of the month evil black dude doing his latest Gus Fring send up. Actually, the Deep actor is hilarious, but not really decent for serious parts of the story. So really, three actors worth a shit (one in a purely comic relief role) and a bunch of no name virtue signallers who are massively overshadowed by them. The contrast is jarring in an already flawed show. With a large side of woke.
At this point, Homelander and Butcher are the only reasons I am even watching any of this.

Boys comics are the typical edgelord shit you found back then. A lot of it dated pretty poorly and there is a bunch of dumb shit there. The show has diverged so much from the comics that exactly following the comics is nearly impossible. The virus plot is from the end of the comics, so they kept that, but pretty much everything else will be madeup by the writers I suspect (although I won't be surprised if a certain main character kills some other main characters like they did in the comics)

I really wish these kinds of shows wouldn't hand wave away so much. The idea that Soldier boy and homelander wouldn't hear them at all with their fighting and shooting is so incomprehensible. They at least give you a throwaway line for smell but then they make that irrelevant with all the fucking noise they're making.
Also tired of the total surrender of any attempt at making power levels consistent or balanced. When you don't do that there's absolutely zero threat to any characters based on what you're seeing -- It will only be the writer's decision when any plot armor stops working. It kills all the potential tension. Especially when each character has had a dozen moments where they should have already died.
Also didn't care for the obvious setting up of the spinoff. I can't imagine that's going to be too great. The show is going to take place in the '50s but by world war II SB is already who he is and a total fraud so what's going to be his character arc?
