Wow, that is a slap in the face putting it in a theater.

These companies don't even bother anymore, just take.
It's actually such a dumb move too I feel. Maybe it'll pay off but I feel the distribution cost for that is such an unnecessary gamble.

I'm ashamed to watch this show in my living room. Let alone in public. I can just picture all the green haired weirdos with lip piercings and face tattoos. And their ear lobes stretched out.

Episodes in theaters are not entirely on the show creators pushing for them, the problem is the theaters literally don't have enough active films and they need content for otherwise empty seats. #3 and #4 box office are movies on weeks 6 and 7. Mortal Kombat and Devil wears Prada 2 are not exactly wide demographic reach so until Mando & Grogu they need screen fillers.

If the finale was in June they wouldn't bother. Because then the schedule picks up with Backrooms, Scary Movie, Toy Story 5, another Minions film, Moana (live action), The Odyssey, latest Spiderman, Super Troopers 3, etc. But they might need more filler in the fall with only Resident Evil and Street Fighter

The argument I would make on that is those examples were on relative free or cheap cable bundles, and in the case of Downton those were extensions of the main run.

This is my goddamn Prime plus plus super prime $40000 per month still using the main storyline. That's why it seems very shitty to me at least.

Other TV shows have shown finales in theaters. Walking Dead, Downton Abby, etc. it isn’t a new thing

Really? Seems like a nothing burger to me. It’s not like the finale is ONLY in theaters. Who gives a fuck if a handful of people want to watch it in a theater?

I was under the impression that's exactly what it is..with a several week delay.

If not, I misunderstood.

Edit: My bad, seems to be 19th theater, 20th Prime. - Next time I'll look it up before I go all "Old man yells at cloud"

Back to the show

with 2 episodes left, trying to figure out where they go since they’re way divergent from the comic. I’m guessing Sage helps them engineer an ultra virus that can kill V1 Supes, but it is so potent it could literally kill all humans. Butcher is on board, everyone else isn’t. Probably kills Sage. Shit happens, meanwhile soldier boy sees Homelander becoming even more unhinged and paranoid since Soldier Boy is literally the sole perceived threat. They find some supe that can amplify the powers of another supe (like Hiro’s friend in Heroes) and use Soldier Boy + that hero to basically eliminate all V on Earth, turning all Supes into regular people. Deep gets killed by sea life, Sage becomes a true dumbfuck assuming she didn’t die already, Homelander becomes normal and basically offs himself.

Homelander didn’t kill because he was treated as a normal person and the guy wasn’t afraid/had accepted his fate. That has been a consistent theme for Homelander in the show: he desperately craves actual connection/relationships with people who aren’t scared shitless of him. That is why he respects guys like Edgar or Butcher

I get that but I still think he should have killed the bomb guy.

Best part of the episode was Deep getting cleaned with dish soap. Maybe he will die by drowning(chase said 2 seasons ago) now that the fish all hate him lol

I would rate it as "It's fine".

Trying to judge it objectively, I just don't see The Boys being something I ever think about (much less rewatch) again. At least half of the episodes from seasons 2+ feel like wheel spinning (at least this season is better than Season 4 on that front); but at the end of the day, the contrivances needed to have the (mostly unpowered) TV versions of The Boys survive the likes of Homelander for years on end just makes it clear the ultimate superpower is plot armor.

I will say that all of the prequel introductions this season rub me the wrong way; beyond having a time period where the writers will get to have every episode be about White Men being bad while sabotaging the one true wisdom that is Communism, we now know half the damn cast can't die. Way to keep the suspense going.

I can totally see the Deep being killed by all the ocean dwellers. The one fish saying “we know it was you, Kevin” could refer to more than the oil pipeline. Ignoring all the accidents or being forced to eat seafood, him letting his octopus girlfriend asphyxiate to death and then having this high and might attitude of “this sushi is good, this tuna fish should be honored to feed me” is clearly the writers trying to erode the one thing that made the Deep sympathetic: his ocean friends. I had mentioned before, but the writers realized they made the audience like him too much (like Gul Dukat) and now they’re trying to overcompensate by dialing the evil up to 11
