That whole plot makes zero sense though. What's the point of driving homelander insane? Why do they trust Noir more than the face of their organization? What's the point of all the subterfuge in the first place. Just sounds like a dumb idea to base a story on.

oh the reason is kind of dumb. the "using him as a failsafe against homelander" is real reatarded, because in the comic book the supes are way less tough. the boys all carry desert eagles because high caliber bullets can kill them. all of the boys also are all dosed in the comic with V (including hughie ) with enough strength to fistfight like...the deep. they also work almost entirely for the cia AND can (and do) call in military units to finish of supe squads they set up for / get dirt on.

its been a long time since i read the comic and i only skimmed the end due to poor scans i had....but it wasn't that noir felt like this failsafe gone awry, it was like he was a mysterious member of the 7 who always survived attempts to kill or incompetince causing him to fall from the sky etc. he was a quiet member of the 7. always mysterious and never playing corpo power games.

noir was kind of there to be a back up homelander more than a failsafe in a way. like if they had to kill homelandder because he went mad or something....the clone could step in and give a media comment.

but noir went mad living a half life where he had to pretend not to be normal, pretend to be homelander's friend. be a failsafe, so he started doing awful stuff going psycho.

anyway the failsafe for homelander thing ;was stupid becacuse they could use conventional means to kill him if the yhad to

Power levels were all over the place this season. If it had just been Homelander it could be blamed on the V1 fucking with his powers, but everybody was all over the map

Why even give komiko soldier boys power?

Her character has been shit the whole series. I guess they had to inject some grrl power into the finale since the only characters anyone even care about are homelander, butcher, and soldier boy.

To let her contribute to the final fight presumably - besides strength her only power is regen. They wouldn’t use Soldier Boy again and Annie presumably couldn’t survive the radiation. Only reason Kimiko could is she could repair the cellular damage

Because he was only brought back to set up a spin off and they couldn't factor him into the ending because he needs to stay a bad guy for the other show.

Hughie/Starlight are more or less the same as the comic ending for them. Butcher killed MM, Frenchie, and Kimiko when he decided to do his plot to kill all supes after Homelander was defeated. Then Hughie kills Butcher to stop him from enacting his plan.

They softened Butcher a lot from the comics - TV show Butcher killing off all The Boys didn't fit for that portrayal.
