No shit. There never WAS an animation pass. The animations still look like shit. And they have not changed. AT ALL. I thought SWTOR PR was bad. These guys are taking it to a whole new level of cover pass.

MMO's don't really need a whole lot of PR themselves, the fans desperate for a new game that will make them feel the way their first MMO did will do it for them. It's like a particularly sad joke of some kind, but I can't figure out the punchline.

The idea of a late animation pass is a bit silly. Art, especially animations, are one of the most expensive and time consuming parts of an MMO and there is no way they have the time to go back and spend those precious resources on things that are done when there is surely more work left they have time to reasonably finish.

What does get late passes art side is usually a bit of world building and maybe some effects. Nothing major usually though as patching art is expensive.

"Look here. I have posted around various gaming forums for years, and I can assure you that this entire PR post is just that. I came here once to watch a video on what was leaked. Whether that was planned or not, I have no idea. While ZO was trying to take it down everywhere to protect their box sales, it stayed up here. Up until now, I thought this site was about coverage, regardless of repercussions. You could have had a great site here. But you just screwed it's integrity by posting this little viral marketing campaign from a "beta tester" that is nothing of the sort. They kind of gave it away when they kept saying "We" all the time when it came to releasing more information. Next time they shouldn't try so hard to be that transparent. And next time, you shouldn't release garbage like this because the reason why your site is in existence in the first place is because of actual coverage aside from the PR garbage consumers are given 6 ways from Sunday. Grow up."

Hmm, after reading the comments by the tester and the BetaCake mods, I'm not sure I can agree with UT and the rest of the pilers on. It may be a shill job but they come off as pretty legit. Not sure why BetaCake would want to lie about these things.

I don't know whats going on behind the scenes though, so who knows? I do know that I haven't seen anything to warrant the kind of hyperbolic hate the cool kids are spouting. So I'll wait until more info is released before passing judgement.

I haven't seen anything about this game that indicates it is great, or a failure. Just conjecture and sandy pussies.

Yeah, I was wondering that too actually. I assumed they were independent, they would lose a lot of cred if they weren't.

Then again maybe they are tired of the herd mentality that seems to have taken over in regards to TESO and WildStar. Rationality seems to have been lost in both of those games by the fans and the detractors. Especially given the total lack of real info about those games.

It totally is. No tinfoil about it. Whether it is owned and operated by a developer or company remains to be seen, but they sure as hell are in the back pockets of the developers for which they "cake". It's fairly obvious after this gimmick tester post.

i dunno why some of you care so much, we all know EXACTLY how teso is going to play out. Its going to sell 2m+ copies no matter what early reviews are, because everyone fucking loves skyrim. Nobody on here will play longer than 3 months, because there will be shit to do in endgame - leveling will be fun, but pretty much wow with a Elder Scrolls skin.

A year after launch the game will be down to 100k or less players and this thread will never get a single post. 2 years later an xpac will come out, it'll suck, and then a year or two later the game will be shut down so as not to fuck with Elder Scrolls 6. Zenimax will be working on their Fallout MMO because no matter how much they spent on TESO, they will make tons of money because MMO players are stupid as fuck with their money.

Yep you nailed, except for the shutting down part.

Even crappy mmo's make money and rarely shut down. Even if TESO is a disaster it will still pull in new players because of the IP and keep making money for years to come. It won't get WoW numbers but as all the other mmos have proven, you don't need WoW numbers to be successful in a business sense.
