Once again, cautiously optimistic about this. I really like the vibe they are going for with the retro style.

FanFourStick made just $26M opening weekend and $56M total (in 2015 dollars). Add in uncertainty if 'the kids' will want the 60s setting, and I think this will be Marvel's clear second worst opening (after The Marvels' $46M / $84M), but it probably won't be the worst.

F4 is in the same slot as deadpool last year, except the month only had Despicable Me 4 (week 1) and Twisters (week 3).

I'll just say for the record, F4 is by far the worst of any of the 'major' comic IP's that Marvel and DC own. It's been a terrible moribund property since the 80's, and I doubt anyone alive and in a condition to buy movie tickets remembers their heyday in the 60's.

That said, the tagline.... .. ... "First Steps"? WTF??? That's the name of a pre-school or kindergarten, not a movie tagline.

Dear god. They must think the people who like this slop are infants with a tagline like that.

I too never understood the FF4 Hype. I also think their powers are trash. It was something my dad grew up on.

THANK YOU!

Invisibility and an afterthought 'force shield' that is basically whatever the writer wants it to be at a given time? How inventive.

Stretchy is kind of a fun power though... when you're 12. After that, Mr Fantastic is just 'really, REALLY, smart'. Like Tony Stark. And Dr. Doom. And Hank Pym. And Beast. And Rocket Raccoon. And about 249 more examples in comics.

Thing is made of rock and is super strong! Well, not really ALL that strong. Pretty strong. Not like the Hulk or anything, or the other approx 1132231412335454 comic characters that have 'big strong' in their bios, but pretty, pretty, pretty strong. And he's orange and has a catchphrase. It's not a GOOD catchphrase really, but it's something to keep him from being completely lame and boring. He's just 90% lame and boring.

Human Torch has yet another basic-bitch lazy design choice for a power. Fire! Ooooh, fire.

It's also New York. I am so goddamned tired of all the tv and shows set in NY. FUCK NY. NY hasn't been cool since the 80's.

EAT SHIT NY

reed was next level smart. apparently now he doesn't hold a candle to a 9 year old black girl lol.
early on, thing was strong as the hulk, but always had a fear of hurting people and didn't use his full strength. he basically got turned doormat to show how strong the villain is

the powers she has been given over the years by different writers, makes every battle, why didn't she just do _____ and end it
Sue can render people unconscious or induce more serious physical distress by forming force fields within their bodies. Sue states that she can give an instant embolism from a hundred yards out, crush windpipes, fill lungs, and drive force spikes through their hearts without blinking.

anyway, don't know if posted before, but was looking at the concept art, much better than the final product

The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Post-Credits Scene Revealed Following Test Screenings

According to trusted scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the stinger features Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm reading to her and Reed Richards’ son, Franklin. She gets up, and when she returns, finds Doctor Doom holding his mask and sitting next to Franklin. However, it doesn’t seem like fans will get their first glimpse at Robert Downey Jr. in the role, as the leak noted that his face is never shown, although the costume and mask are described as being “very comic accurate.”

MCU - kept it simple, just picked the base well known characters and version we loved and found solid casting and made simple movies that slowly wove together into complexity. Result Set the gold standard for blockbusters.

M She U - crammed dozens of D tiers characters down our throats to boost diversity quota, ignored accurate comkc representations or storylines to focus each film themes like depression PTSD Patriarchy and oppression of minorities

result - massive losses horrible product disjointed storylines with massive plot points being dropped and ignored and then having to result to Hail Marys like RDJ as Doom and a prequel alternate reboot of F4 and heavy Multiverse focus due to need to force story to
Try to right the wrongs.

It's funny, because I'll read all the spoilers for these movies because I know I'll never actually watch any of these so it doesn't matter.

Wife and I went and watched every Marvel movie sometime around when Infinity War and End Game came out. Of the new ones, I saw Black Widow and Shang Chi. Checked out after that. I did watch Spiderman and Deadpool, but I don't know that I really even include those in MCU. And I did reluctantly watch GotG3. Which was fine.

Same with the TV shows. Wandavision, Loki, and Hawkeye. Didn't watch that racist piece of shit show, and that made me decide to just skip everything else.

They blew up their brand in incredible fashion.

It's been testing horribly... one of the reasons for reshoots.
what i have heard about the test screening

thing isn't featured that much, one scene focused on him is with dealing with being ugly
reed's powers are meh to ok, nothing impressive
surfer is after sue's unborn baby
franklin is born halfway through the movie
galactus looks great
sue, surfer and baby franklin defeat galactus

guess movie going to cover a few years, unless franklin ages fast.

What's amusing to me is Johnny was never mentioned - apparently even potentially bi- white men are still unacceptable.

And yes, Womyn Power! has been the concern since the first trailer.

Dear god. They must think the people who like this slop are infants with a tagline like that.

First Steps IS a pretty infantile title. However I'm guessing it's either a reference to them being astronauts (the first people to go beyond what we were allowed to do, thus bringing Galactus here) OR it's supposed to be infantile because the society they live in is essentially sheltered and oblivious to any sort of real problems, now their innocence is being shattered. That second one is probably giving the moviemakers way too much credit though.

Galactus being wasted on an origin-type movie is really bizarre, because as someone else said there's nothing to escalate to after that. Unless this is a setup movie and Galactus is going to straight-up obliterate the world of the F4, causing them to end up in our world/time to join up with the MCU against the threat that's following them, or something like that. In which case, if it's a setup movie, why are they doing it before the Dr. Doom movies? Galactus is pretty much the only thing they have left to escalate to after Dr. Doom.

My guess: Galactus wins in this movie, Dr. Doom wins in his first movie, the multiverse gets smashed together, the new Avengers (w/ F4) defeat Doom in the second movie, then the MCU moves to the final phase of dealing with the coming of Galactus. Or they'll just kill Galactus in this movie and then show up to help with Dr. Doom IDK

And yeah, the F4 were never actually that interesting, and the box office for their movies demonstrates that. They were big in the Boomer Times and that's about it. Lot of people will be eager to jump on the bandwagon and pretend they're F4 fans, though, much like what happened with some of the other MCU properties. Tons of Johnny-come-latelies in the Marvel fanbase.
