Cheese and jams together is classy as fuck. I'm with McCheese. Fig Jam with Goat Cheese on Water Crackers? Where's my navy blazer? I'm in.

I'm all for putting them together, but not on a grilled cheese, for some reason thats where I put my foot down.

One of my buddies and I caught up a few weeks ago over one of these fine trays of pre meal deliciousness.

If cheese and jam is classy where do you rank the Monte Cristo sandwich in terms of class? I would put it at the goddamn top; but that is because deep frying a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and then dipping it in raspberry jelly and powdered sugar takes me from six to midnight.

I haven't had a Monte Cristo since there was a Bennigan's by me, which was probably like 15 years ago. Those were so good. I wonder if any local place makes those.

GD Bennigans was the spot to have some drinks too on weekends before going out. Dennys down here has the moon over my hammy which always sounds disgusting but I think its the same thing.

Yes! Bennigan's on St. Patrick's day was the party spot for everyone. Lots of good times at that place. I've had Moons Over My Hammy. It's different. Denny's is another place I haven't eaten at in forever. I'm too old to be out partying at 3am and that was pretty much the only time I went to Denny's.

Last time I went to Denny's it was outside an airport when I was early for a flight. The food sucked but I was like "wow, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and sausage for like less than $6". This was a few years back, but there's really not much of anyplace that you can sit down and eat a real breakfast and walk out the door for under $10.

Of course there's a local place that makes them, your kitchen. Go sous vide up a monte cristo.

Wonder why Himeo hasn't come ruin this thread. Sugar is like the bat phone to him.

We have Village Inn's and Cracker Barrels here also, CB is a little pricey but their Uncle Herschels breakfast is the king of sit down places for me. Village Inn makes some of the best goddamn white people pies in the game, we ordered from them for Thanksgiving.

Patty's egg nest out here in the greater Seattle area is our go to under $10 breakfast joint. Fresh squeezed OJ is the best man.

Cracker Barrel is pricey? I don't think they have a single meal on their menu that is over $9.99.

I also second the Monte Cristo from Cheddar's. You can't go wrong with what is basically a deep-fried ham&cheese sandwich. The raspberry dipping sauce they serve with it is badass too. Cheddar's is surprisingly decent & incredibly cheap for being basically the equivalent of an Applebees/Chilis/Fridays type restaurant. They've got burgers for like $5, their salads are HUGE and good, and their onion ring appetizer is a roughly 2 foot-tall tower of fried onion inhumanity. Its awesome.

Well among the breakfast fast sit down places in Florida they are our "high end" among the chains.

If you want to drop some fancy money there is a ton of brunch buffets from 50-200 bucks on the beaches.

Cracker Barrel has real blueberry pancakes which almost no other chain does. I am still angry about the time I had a hankering for blueberry pancakes on Sunday morning, actually waited for a table at IHOP, and their idea of blueberry pancakes was regular pancakes with some fucking blueberry jam smeared on them. I have not darkened the door of an IHOP since that day. THAT'S NOT BLUEBERRY PANCAKES IHOP YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!!

We might have to change the name of this thread to "The Lowfalutin Food Thread".

Oh, you're in Florida, so you have a Waffle House on every other corner of every town

I have relatives in Florida. There are more Waffle Houses in their town than Mcdonalds, Subways, and Burger Kings combined.

I think the Waffle House thing is more northern Florida, which is really a completely different state than south Florida. I know of maybe one Waffle house in all of Ft. Lauderdale. I saw several when I was up in Panama City on the pan handle.

I eat at Denny's weekly. I love it. Awesome place with awesome, simple food.

I made a Monte Cristo sandwich to impress a lady a couple weeks ago and it was a resounding success. I do miss the Bennigans Monte Cristo, though. I'm pretty sure that's a big reason I was an obese child. My family used to go to Bennigans two or three times a month, and the ONLY thing I ordered there was a Monte Cristo. I blame this stupid health kick that we've been on for the last 10 - 15 years for the slow disappearance of the Monte Cristo. RIP, friend.

I feel bad for the bros who've never experienced the magic of having a Greek Diner on every other block in your neighborhood. That shit is the best ever.
