Watching the most recent Handmaid’s Tale with my wife. I can suspend my belief a lot with most shows but seeing all these hella handsome men fawning over an overweight Elizabeth Moss is just immersion breaking.

anyone else?

i did recently read the first 90 pages of the book before stopping. I stopped because the heroine slept with a married man, broke up their marriage, then married the dude in the book (Luke). And yeah, I just have no tolerance for rooting for someone like that. Not that she deserves to be Handmaided but I’m not advocating for a homewrecker.

TLDR: Elizabeth Miss is a bridge troll.

Shows really bad. I think she's one of those look I'm successful and a troll and I'm proud of it. The show is asinine, they write themselves into obvious situations. The shock value is over.

My wife wasn't thrilled but said it made sense enough given that they're adapting the sequel novel to a TV series as well.

They left enough open ended options to do a follow-up. I suppose it was also somewhat realistic - Gilead wouldn't just instantly fall apart overnight even if they had success in liberating some smaller regions and destroying some of the leadership structure.

Should’ve been the 15 minute wrap up after the ending of the second to last episode.

this entire episode was basically an epilogue.

I better spoiler this just in case but....

Ok so they managed to take out some High Commanders in Boston and they didn't get to DC. It isn't like DC isn't going to hear about Boston and bomb the fuck out of it anyway and retake it. Canadians won't go in because of "Highly effective anti-air systems" and leads everyone to believe Gilead has an unstoppable military (Eyes/guardians). So with this said, in the real world it would be someone coming to the US and assassinating the Gov of a state and 30 congressman... That doesn't capitulate an entire state much less a nation which is united in it's regions.

So none of it makes sense anyway. Boston would be fucked regardless and re-taken easily with an active gilead territory above Boston anyway. Boston is still encircled. This is why this is dumber than shit.

On top of that during the "revolution" they had 4 jets come in for a bombing distraction. What no combat air patrols? They (Gilead) would have seen that coming from a hundred miles away. Then all of a sudden the US Marines and Army are there which is hilarious considering the only military left is in Hawaii and Alaska. Active fronts are still thousands of miles away west of the rockies. And with air defense systems in place "After the distraction" which is the reason given why Canada couldn't do more, they just managed to drop in 50k troops from the sky? No.

The 9th episode could have led into something bigger but then all of a sudden you get this completely unrealistic and unattainable epilogue where nothing happens from Gilead itself when the revolt of Boston was encircled before it began with 60 close ups of June which all I wanted to do was punch the shit out of her smug liberal ass smirk.

They already are filming the second part of this, Testament, due out later this year. Which is going to be about June's kid going on the warpath with Aunt Lydia (Lol I mean Jesus who writes this stuff?) where as in the end of the 9th episode should have led to a tactical advantage to start hitting pockets to weaken defense forces of all of Gilead and the entire world armed forces starts getting wind and Testament leads to the ultimate war.

But no they did jack shit of that and it completely shows whoever wrote this script has ZERO understanding of war strategy, tactics, or anything else besides wanting close ups of June and how women saved the day. Plus, Gilead holds the Nukes.

I didn't mind. They wrapped up all the threads. Kinda like the end of Lord of The Rings.
