Yikes! For me it was always:

1. ROTK
2. FOTR
3. TTT

But even saying that, I love TTT! ROTK book was my favorite by far. When I finished it I immediately just turned back to page 1 and re-read it.
The ghost army deus ex shit kills my ability to get engaged in ROTK. Also hated the corny romance between Boromir's loser brother and the blonde chick that Aragon rejected. Also the hour long ending was zzzzz.

Oh man! But Rocky is in it and has his own story too! More so in Creed one than two.
Creed 1 was okay. Creed 2 was a piece of shit. Drago's son's story was far more compelling than the bullshit with Adonis.

but I enjoy being back in the universe.

I only watched up to first episode of season 2. I didn't like the over the top fights - kids somersaulting off cafeteria tables - that doesn't fit with the movies (although of course Crane Kick technically isn't realistic). The kid with the Mohawk ruins it as well - these two things don't fit with the aesthetic.

Also don't like the backstory they gave Johnny of being the stepson of someone rich - that doesn't fit with the Johnny we saw at the Country Club who looked right at home

unfortunately i have to agree with you on that, the multiple endings part. its like wait, you didnt give Christopher Lee his awesome Scouring Of The Shire moment, but you gave fucking Samwise his midget porn hookup? the ghost army shit is debateable because there was another just as glaring Deus Ex with the eagles and why they couldnt just drop off The Ring in Mt Doom and saved everyone all this trouble

I think cutting the scouring was the right move. It just doesn't work in for the movie format. The movie climaxed when the ring was destroyed, having the scouring after that would be jarring and out of place.

The Eagles couldn't be trusted with the ring any more than Men could.

i disagree, Tolkien intended this story to be a showcase on how war affects everyone and in the movie the Shire was just fine and dandy meanwhile everywhere else in the world was total chaos. without the Scouring the message has been hollowed out.

That's true, but I don't think you can look at the movie as a re-telling of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. It's Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, and there's only so much shit you can cram into a movie before it becomes a convoluted mess. I think the Shire being unaffected by the war actually added an interesting element to it. The hobbits returned home after all of that and nobody other than themselves could relate to the hell they'd been through. They had changed, but the shire hadn't. It actually makes Frodo's decision to go live in on elf island and experiment with homosexuality a lot more reasonable.

i mean i understand why he might have not included that, but this is Christopher Lee here. the dude was fucking badass and as far as everyone was concerned Saruman is still alive and well and very salty over in Orthanc and could choke some bitches the first chance he gets. basically his story arc wasnt complete.

Except that even in the books the shire is completely unaffected by the Saruman's mischief thanks to galadriel's magic dust. The scouring never would have worked in the movies after Jackson reduced Merry and Pippin to comic relief retards.

they were pretty dopey in the books too. they did manage some clutch wins. i think the scouring could have worked.

They start out morons in the books but they mature quickly. Like Pippin taking oath to Gondor in repayment for Boromir saving his life is a very serious moment in the book, and even Gandalf is impressed with his conduct. In the movie Gandalf treats him like a fucking idiot and he fucking stammers his way through the oath like a bitch. They also completely gloss over how big a deal the Witch King's death (and Merry's part in it) was.

Saruman's terrible death scene in the extended edition suggests they never even contemplated doing the scouring. And it's kinda fucked up how Legolas just flat out murders Wormtongue.

that Witch King scene was supposed to be a grrl power moment. thats why they sort of brushed Merry off. yeah they did mature in the books, but Pippin still weakened in the presence of the Palantir and that was after he "matured". so Gandalf had no choice but to take his ass with him to Gondor.
