How many people here even watch the show anymore? It keeps popping to the top of my feed so I shit post once in a while but I haven't watch any episodes since s1. I tried like 3 times but episode 1 just puts me to sleep after I stop laughing at the "mma" match.

I think its doing fairly well viewership wise, its just impossible to talk about here.

Like I am not thrilled with some of the changes between this and the game, but some of the changes have been quite good. I do think this most recent episode needed to change, its fine in isolation but when a season is 7 episodes they need more going on. Ellie and Dina should be chasing Tommy to Seattle with Jesse chasing them. Ellie turns into a monster and it costs Dina which costs Ellie and the cycle of violence goes on and on, its an OKAY story. But with just them there IDK where they will go and maybe thats better.

I guess it just depends how long they want to do this for. If they changed nothing this could have been done with 1 more season. But if they want like 4 or 5 seasons they will have to move beyond Abbey, its not a complicated arc between them.

Yes, but that isn't even their main problem with her. The show, not the game, needs her to be a sympathetic character that people connect with in order for them to want to watch her more. We know they understand this because they changed the unlikeable, ugly Abby from the game into a more likeable and cute version for the show. Bell Ramsay must have been chosen as someone that could connect people in spite of her looks because, well, you already pointed it out. Instead, the writers have made her a totally unlikeable and unrelatable character from the very first episode and now have killed the likeable, relatable character last episode. That means they intended for her to carry the show but put her at a disadvantage from the start. So the writers have driven themselves into a corner by being fucking terrible and you are going to tell us that we are focusing on the wrong things. They are all symptoms of why most of these shows fucking suck ass now and it is sad to see you defending it.

Bro, you are doing the exact thing I pointed out this morning; you are focusing on the few trolls (that do the same thing EVERYWHERE) and then using their dipshit responses to deflect away from valid criticism. Then, when someone points out something that is tangentially related to a troll topic you dismiss it as further trolling.
Bella Ramsay's worst quality is not her looks; it is that she doesn't have the acting chops to turn the material into something worth watching OR she doesn't care enough to do it. What that means is that the showrunners cast her knowing that her look, bearing, and attitude didn't fit the character; so it was intentional. She doesn't even have any other acting credits that show her capable of carrying the load required of this story. Contrast that with the actress they hired for Abby. I don't even remember her name, but she was fucking stellar in Justified; she showed the exact type of performance that they should have been looking for out of Ellie and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear that she read for the role and got passed over. In what world is Bella Ramsay your best option if you're looking to make the very best show?

Bella was great in GoT, but I do agree she's entirely unlikeable in the show. It does actually make you sympathize with Abby more, and maybe that's the intent.

I wouldn't say great. She had a couple dramatic but funny scenes because they made it look like a 10yo girl upstaged a bunch of viking warriors.

Her killing the giant was just retard level arya stark level grrrl power fantasy.

And none of the people crying about the training scene in episode 1 seemed to notice that in episode 2 when she was in a real fight she got her ass kicked by a dude in 3 seconds without landing a single punch or even really resisting despite the fact that she had a gun.

Never played the sequel game and lost track of it so didn't know the story of part 2.., season 1 was quite fun... However, It seems the show writers didn't learn from the sequel game, they should have changed the story, I can't see who on that show ( shit story aside ) is going to carry it into season 3 unless they live off flashbacks. LoL

I think it's kind of interesting the way there was absolutely zero hoopla online about how the game's one Jewish character got recast as an entirely different race. In this era of left-wing Jew-bashing being acceptable to a lot of the crowd that Druckman associates with, it isn't surprising, but what is surprising is that I've hardly seen a peep about it online. I thought race-swapping underrepresented characters was this huge thing that people got upset about? Apparently Jewish->Hispanic race swapping isn't even worth a mention. And nobody on the "stop replacing white characters" side is going to stand up for Original Dina either. Jewish characters are just out there in the wilderness, nobody on either side gives a fuck about "preserving" them. Just an observation.

TBH Ellen Page wasn't attractive in her day either, but if someone that looked like that / looked like game Ellie was playing Ellie, I woudn't care if she was attractive or not. Her attractiveness is beside the point, the point is that she's totally miscast and Bella Ramsey kinda sucks at everything. No charisma with the other actors, no screen presence, no believability, not even likeable. The fact that she's got a downsey face is just sorta an extra thing to poke fun at but we wouldn't care if she was good in other areas.

I don't think anybody is complaining about Isabela Merced's looks. One of the most gorgeous Latina actresses around today, along with Melissa Barrera (who might be more or less gone, she seems to be persona non grata in Hollywood now because she said we support Israel too much or something).

Anyway, I don't hate this show, some of the changes from TLOU2 have been positive and they're putting a lot of the budget right onto the screen (especially episode 2). Killing Joel was idiotic but it's what the game did and thus inevitable. I like this season more than I expected to, and definitely more than I liked the game. The casting of Ellie is the main thing bringing it down / taking me out of it, and I think the show would have been better-received if they cast someone else to play Ellie, and held off on the Joel murder until late in the season to give people more time with the character they actually like. Both ships have sailed, so ehh.
