I'm sick of people in these positions "learning" things on the job.

You are at the pinnacle of funding and IP, you should be at the pinnacle of your craft and have years of experience learning from the best with some of your own projects under your belt.

This is how it used to work and how it still works in Japan, which is why bookshops are full of translated Japanese manga and gaming libraries full of Japanese games.
