Don't think Sweeney was born from a swan egg. Gotta get a genuine bird in there for accurate casting.
Also, kilts or pictish face-paint for the Aussie-Braveheart were just as off historically as the hoplite armour in the Odyssey, no?

In the historical text by Michael Crichton, there was a group ancient African in the Congo that built an ancient city and tamed a race of white gorillas that used paddles to wallop the heads of their enemies. They had built their empire on the wealth of their vast diamond mines.
There was also a gorilla that spoke sign language that had a larger vocabulary than most magicians nowadays, and was much more polite.

I'm not sure Gibson has it in him anymore. Apocalypto is a fucking masterpiece but it was 20 years ago.
Hacksaw I thought was good but nowhere near peak Gibson. We'll have to see how this Passion sequel goes to really get a feel for where his directing is at in 2026.

Isn't Waterworld's budget massively inflated by the fact the whole set got destroyed multiple times? Still, the point stand. A big blockbuster for 100 millions is probably not a thing. Project Hail Mary is at 200, Galadiator 2 (to use a similar film) a bit more.
