Eh. I never specifically saw Tenet as a DEI hire. His dad was in plenty of shit I loved. It was an original character. Now Nolan casting Zendaya and the other “in every movie” black chick as canonically beautiful white characters - that’s the MESSAGE in bold letters. I wonder when he will realize appeasing the vocal minority mob won’t help him. I’m pretty sure he’s been roundly criticized for his white casts before. Only they weren’t. They were original characters or he cast people in the canonical races.

Hate seeing one of the few directors I know bow the knee so hard. Also Zendaya is fucking terrible. She’s a racist piece of shit anyway.

The sad part is they just had to cast that and Helen with a traditional actress for the part, and the rest of the cast is fucking fine. Now maybe the movie has additional subversions, but the casting was fucking easy for this.

I’m convinced he was about to be told he was losing his deals because he clearly didn’t DEI Oppenheimer. I’m not ready to toss him to the curb yet but this will be his first movie I don’t see in a theater since before momento.

Looks good. I'm sure he can pull off a few high anxiety Nolan classic scenes like he did in Interstellar with this story. Only person to do it better is Villeneuve.

Villeneuve would have been a great director for this kind of epic, and would have had better sound mixing than another fucking Nolan film where you can't hear any of the dialogues (Tenet was awful in that regard in a bunch of scenes, on top of being overall pretty terrible).

By who? The west? They appropriated it for themselves in the middle ages while at the SAME time alienating and separating from themselves the current/contemporary Greeks (the Byzantines) as something nothing like them. Despite those same medieval Greeks continuing their traditions going back to those "ancient" times in a unbroken chain.

"the west" can't have it both ways. "the west" borrowed from and applied "some" aspects of Greek civilization, which they claim to be their founder when it suits them only.

Greek civilization was in its beginning, middle AND modern period all a "Near Eastern" civilization. Not western.

Byzantium was supported and part of the west until the Muslims wiped them off the map. Then the west closed their borders. For 500 years.
