Not really sure how I rank his films, Batman Begins is best of the trilogy, Prestige, Momento, Dark knight and then interstellar? I haven't seen Dunkirk which is odd it's only only movie of his I never watched
For me:

Interstellar. I hated it the first time I saw it. I especially dislike MMcC and AH...and even JC. Then I watched it again and it was ok. 3rd time started getting into it. There's not much in cinema that gets to me 100% buy in capture but

Still gets me every single time. Perfect in every way.

Second, Dark Knight Rises. Then Insomnia, then The Prestige. In all of these movies, he does an excellent job of giving weight to decisions and outcomes. Their main characters are real, tangible, believable.

I didn't buy into the first two Batman movies. Or Inception. Or Dunkirk. Decent flicks, but not something to think about. Tenet and Oppenheimer were trash. The Odyssey is going to be parodied for years to come.

I'd say Memento is up there, too, especially if it was your first time watching it going in blind.

Memento might be my favorite. But as said before, only because I went in blind. It's still good, but the mind fuck is gone.

I'd say the batman movies were a decent modern reimagining of the old Michael Keaton batman. Memento was a solid twisty innovative movie. The prestige was also solid due to good acting. But to me the rest of the nolan movies are highly overrated, and this one just cements it.

Here is my ranking of the Nolan movies.

1. Interstellar
2. Dark Knight
3. Memento
4. Dunkirk
5. Oppenheimer
6. Insomnia
7. Batman Begins
8. The Prestige
9. Inception
10. Dark Knight Rises
11. Tenet
N/A. Following (Never Saw It)

Everything coming out of The Odyssey is concerning. I don't see how you can cast 5'1" 105 lbs Elliot Page as Achilles and your movie be good.

Most Nolan movies are you love them or feel meh. I liked Dunkirk too. His weakest is easily Tenet. until ghetto tranny odyssey. Why not just fucking stylize it like Baz Luhrman did Romeo and Juliet if you’re gonna fuck the source material that much.

I think Nolan had his own golden era: between 2000 and 2010 he did Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Inception. In my opinion these movies are awesome even if you watch them on your tablet. Of course movies like Interstellar, Dunkirk or even TENET are somewhat good, some of them magnified on IMAX theaters, but at some point they IMO feel short (I'm a die hard fan of TENET even if the movie feels silly and has a lot of major flaws).

And what about The Dark Knight Rises? I wouldn't know, almost 15 years after I still haven't wrapped my mind over it.

I've always been in the camp of Nolan being the good version of Bay/Snyder. He makes visually impressive movies that have some emotional moments. He also tries to be clever at times for the sake of being clever instead of making the story better. This movie will likely have all of these aspects aside from the bullshit that this thread has pointed out. I doubt the good aspects will outweigh this stuff. I will likely pirate it or watch on streaming at some point but I would be shocked if it was actually good.

This is exactly what I think, too. I am lenient of artists because I can separate the art from the artist. The problem is that when artist get too full of themselves that they start to think what they say with their art is very important and it starts to suffer from more and more delusions of grandeur. Nolan is far down this path and I dont know how he recovers.

Nolan did some cool and even great movies, but I wouldn't put Snyder and Bay in the same basket. I saw Watchmen again the other day, and I think it's great. Man of Steel was also great. 300 was great. Bay made almost nothing but shit movies after Rock.

Casting someone who is 5’1” as Achilles is fine as long as you cast everyone at that height or smaller. People were fucking short back then, seriously fucking short.
Otherwise it’s just more disrespect and destruction of every “white” hero or heroic story.
Fucking tiresome.

Easy fix, cast Peter Dinklage as Patroclus and a regular dude as Ajax the Great.

I didn't care too much about Oppenheimer the first time I saw it but my second watch i really liked it. I've watched it a few more times since then and I'd put it in my top 3 Nolan's.
