The funny thing is Achilles was portrayed as way more unstoppable and strong in the actual book than he was in the movie Troy, and Ellen Page couldn't come close to what Brad Pitt even did in Troy. Achilles is supposed to be wielding a spear that takes 3 men to even carry, that he uses in battle like it's a toy. Just him rejoining the battle completely turns the tide for the Greeks who were getting worked without him.
There should never be a sword as his neck under any circumstances. I assume Achilles gets in touch with his feelings or something in this version.
