That change, does imo diminish odysseys character.

I get they are adding stuff from another story, that I am not any familiar with beyond the postings here etc.

The point of his cunning and wit- was he chose the horse because it was related to Troys patron god and other reasons - that essentially "forced" Troy to take in the horse by way of playing their own customs, fears of the gods, etc etc against them - he didnt need to sacrifice / trick or betray a tranny boy to get the trojans to "believe" the ruse and take in the horse.

He also was a good custodian of his crew, as best as he could - he could have tossed them all overboard off the bat and avoided the entire thing really, but he didnt - he fought and sacrificed to keep his men alive as long as they did until they just got wtfbbq wiped - he just did it in a manly way without any "sorry" or niceties we are accustomed to.

Pageau says that page was a victim of a weak man / father that sent him to war in his place and his sons death is a symbol of the failed man / father - not being there to stand up and sacrifice for his sons... yet he also managed to survive the entire trojan war, to then be "tricked" and or "betrayed" by our main character... it cannot really be /both/ of those... unless as usual Pageau is REACHING very far - and assuming that /his/ keen sense to finding (be they there intentionally or not) meanings in thing is something Fred in the theater is going to have.

I will lol if its like MAtt Damon is like "Hey page, like sit outside the horse... when the bunch of trojans come lead them close, we will pop out and then kill them save you and take their armor and stuff and then get in." and he is like "LULZ NOPE haha U just die srry bro" - because that is the 4d chess of our esteemed main man eh?

If you go back to my original post in Dec of last year (The Odyssey (2026)) before we knew the translation Nolan was using, you'll see that this was very deliberate of Emily Wilson doing the translating. She specifically used her own interpretation of "'polytropos" to mean "a complicated man" instead of "clever and wily" or "adaptable and resourceful." This was intentional from the very first lines of the translation.

Yes and even in /that/ its still a essential mistranslation - its more of the effect that “a man that his ways / mind / reasoning are complex” and complex like Leonardos machines not “intentionally complexing to be confusing to cover up ill intent” like she is taking things.

Ellen Page is literally a dude disguised as a dude playing another dude. An inception of identity politics.

These people have air tight saunas so they can huff their own farts.

This is in a "may not even torrent this garbage" category, not the LOTR category. Is this like when they try to say Hilary has a 97% chance to win, are they just trying to pump themselves up? Why do they do this shit?
Because pre-gamer gate, it used to work.

That quote " Its the commandeering of other cultures that bothers me....."

You mean like what is currently happening around the entire planet? Hollywood has always done this and will continue to do it for as long as it is politically controlled.

I would probably be way less incensed if we hadn’t had bullshit cultural appropriation fake “offenses” leveled at every white person for sneezing.

Fuck this movie.

How was Polyphemus?
It was really weird because we're so CGI brained now. It looked great but I'm like "where's the CGI shiny look".

Seems more like a me problem

Out of the entire cast Telemachus felt miscast. (Lol). I think Holland just felt weak next to some if these dudes. Maybe that was the point, though? Ithaca was supposed to be an easy target for boorish men.

They should've cast younger for him imo.
