movie is wild in box office, 10% drop international and it hasn't even opened in Japan/China yet. The money is crazy especially since Nolan gets 15% of gross (not net profit, gross is direct box office money). His wife, as a co-producer, gets 5% per the Universal deal they signed when they changed from WB to Universal for Oppenheimer. They made over $150m from Oppenheimer and will likely get over $200m from this movie.
I might see the movie again in 70mm imax, have a family hunting/fishing trip in Alaska in 2 weeks and we were just gonna kick it in Vancouver for 3 days in a lodge before heading out, brother says he can get tickets for 70mm imax in vancouver and might do that. he saw the movie last weekend and had similar thoughts to mine, lol'd at Lupita/Peter Parker/tranny casting but otherwise liked the movie.
I told him I didn't like the modern American language usage but he pointed out that we are so used to british accents because for 150 years the "epic" movies have used british actors cast from a small pool of british theater actors, its not like ancient greeks spoke in british accents. Lucas subverted that trope by using british actors for all the Empire voices. I wonder how much Nolan is trying to change accent acceptance for audiences and if he can be successful (still not a fan of that).
