It bugging me trying to think what I was going for. I think I got into a debate in my own head about if Oscars even make a significant financial impact for a nominated movie. More say then the cost of the entire Oscar show production. Because at the end of the day this entire Hollywood charade needs money. Lots of money apparently.

My autism didn't take into account the Hollywood ego that must be fed.

Oscar bumps are a real thing just less of a thing now. Million Dollar Baby made 92% of its gross after one. The most famous is Titanic which made $262 million after but thats somewhat due to it receiving noms only 7 weeks after release (that run was stupid lol)

It's self-selecting, though. If you know you have Oscar bait that wouldn't generally be attractive for the general audience, you put it on late in december, maybe even in a limited release, then hope for a prolonged run because of nominations.

Only 43% drop against the biggest opening of all time. Neck and neck with Maverick, which is all the more impressive given their difference in rating.

I had some expiring AMC credits, so I finally watched this last week. The movie itself was good. The only 3 issues I had were dialogue volume (specifically in some early scenes, I couldn't make out what they were saying), the obviously horrible casting choices of Page and whoever played Helen, and then one specific rant from Anne Hathaway's character that was totally out of place with the rest of the movie.

It's unfortunate that they took what easily would have been an A+ film and disfigured it with a couple idiotic casting choices, but it was still a great film.

Feel like it was severely lacking in historical accuracy by portraying Sirens as all women. Archaic period depictions of sirens pre 700-ish BCE has male sirens too. Hope the Elon-version fixes that.

This crossed 1.1B this weekend. China / Korea / Japan opening this weekend, will end in the 1.5B range. Nolan is VERY popular in those countries

its expected to end its run around $1.6 billion, while spidey (PG13) has a shot at $3 billion but will be at least $2.5 billion. Endgame is re-releasing this year as well and it'll be interesting to see if that tops Avatar 1 (2.9 billion).

Movie sucked lol. Don't care about how much money it made its just bad, the acting was awkward and miscast, most of the movie felt rushed. Holland, Hathaway, Pattinson everyone just sucked really.

There was one scene that was good. The cyclops. The rest of the movie was bland or just dumb. The whole sitting on an island with Theron doing nothing. The pig sequence and the armor guys was just silly. His crew does absolutely nothing and just takes L after L. The stuff back in Ithaca was like a whole separate boring soap opera that just dragged on until the finale, which again wasn't that great.

The couple of battle sequences were short and silly. Hell the finale of HotD was Infinitly better as a quasi-historical/fantasy fight sequence. It showed some cool tactics and surprises even without the dragons roasting everyone. Actually scaling walls, breaching gates, maneuvers and tactics. Odyssey just had the horse and some rape and pillaging and Batman.
