This movie sucks.
That's the real disappointing part about it. I know when it was announced Nolan was going to make it, I had pretty high hopes it might be one of the best movies ever made. Something that might actually get me to go back to the theater, but lo and behold, as more information about it started rolling out, it just cemented the fact it was a wasted opportunity.

Still better off just going and watching The Return. Imagine if the people behind that independent film had been given a proper big budget to do the Odyssey, they probably would have done it justice, and made a masterpiece.

How fucking hard is it to do a faithful adaptation? Not fucking hard! None of his changes made the story more interesting. Most of them were hugely detrimental. On purpose! Boy he owned the chuds by turning a great story into shit.

Yeah, but don't you know you're not a true artist if you can't put your own interpretation on to the classics and prove that you can make something completely forgettable that will never stand the test of time!

Just enjoy your collectible popcorn bucket...bigot...

Theres a thing that bothers lots of people in this community. Maybe most.

That thing doesnt bother you. And you make sure to proclaim this at every opportunity, and then criticize everyone else for being bothered by that thing.

Its become more or less your identity on the subject of anything movies or TV, as far as I can tell. You do you, and everything, but its not really the kind of elite big brain position you appear to think it is.
I'm sorry the fires of heaven dot org > movies > The Odyessy forum isn't just holding hands proclaiming that black Helen is too trans to fit in the horse.

Edit
I keep eyeballing that popcorn bucket when I'm out seeing other movies. It's nice but it ain't no shai hulud forbidden fleshlight.

No, mad because Indians, Muslims, and the The Chinese are taking over the world because men stopped being Men and became soy boy faggots who buy pop corn buckets and put them on a shelf.

It’s literally all your fault, Adebisi Adebisi . Literally.

Lol movie did suck and I watch a ton of shitty TV shows.

What's funny is all the actors I like were terrible, Theron sucks but she was better than everyone in a way yet she did nothing. Damon was fine I guess but everything was rushed. Movie never built anything really

Everything rushed is one of the biggest problems. Should have been multiple movies

Probably could have done a high-end mini series or maybe an eight episode single season with those high-level production values you see from stuff like HBO or whatever. Could have been really fantastic.

I thought The Return sucked. They stripped out the whole odyssey part of The Odyssey. Whether that was for budget reasons or not, all it left was a depressed Odysseus moping around the final act, only doing anything because the plot demanded it.

Deconstructing and reimagining heroes is usually commie bullshit, but the writers/director on this one are all sad old geezers so maybe that’s explanation enough.

There was one scene that was good. The cyclops. The rest of the movie was bland or just dumb. The whole sitting on an island with Theron doing nothing. The pig sequence and the armor guys was just silly. His crew does absolutely nothing and just takes L after L. The stuff back in Ithaca was like a whole separate boring soap opera that just dragged on until the finale, which again wasn't that great.

I mean odysseus crew just getting owned again and again is just how the story goes. Odysseus getting to islands and just spending months or years each time is also just how the story goes. Its all about him getting back and then clearing house

Pretty much. In the Odyssey, the giants destroy 11 of Odysseus' 12 ships, in the movie only 2 out of 3. Also the movie cut down the story from 10-ish separate pre-ithaca islands/encouters quite a bit, removing the Circones, merging the lotus-eaters with Calypso, etc. There'd be a few more Ls he'd take in a more "faithful-to-the-source-material"-adaptation.

And in the grand scheme of things, not particularly impressive sales:
