The big thing my drum teacher is having me work on is relaxing. I haven't quite figured out how you look super animated (the showmanship part) while being completely relaxed though. Maybe he never learned it?

He'd be absolutely dying if he were forcing that double kick or those blast beats though. I've been working on Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold that's at 130 bpm, and I can do 16th double kick at about 85% of it (110 bpm) pretty comfortably. If I try to play it up to speed though, I feel it, big time, mostly in my hip flexors.

Oddly, I did my little tempo tapper app and that Lorna Shore song is about exactly the same, at 130 bpm (although these sound like 32nds).

Rush's replacement for Peart for their upcoming reunion tour. She apparently is a fan of Porcaro and has played with Jeff Beck. My dad (old drummer) approves.

My son has been drumming for the last year or two. He's just finishing learning Enter Sandman now. Here's a video my wife took.

I feel like Carter Beauford is overlooked as a drummer in the mainstream b/c Dave Matthews Band was just so... something. I saw DMB like twice? And saw Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds live in Boone, NC once. I loved listening to DMB but hated every one of their fans. It was as bad as Pearl Jam fans where you weren't cool if you didn't know that the best version of "Lie in Our Graves" was the one they performed on Feb 19th, 1995 when it was raining at Bumfuck Amphitheater. And you have it in your CD binder.

Anyways... cool video, love those Drumeos.
