Yeah, I like the artcores too. And depending on the day I sometimes lean towards an AS93 rather the Gretsch, as I don't particularly want a trem. This is why I don't still have one, heh. My father in laws Ibanez is a cracking guitar too, albeit a solid body.

I have an Ibanez Artcore and it's probably my worst guitar. I mainly used it as an acoustic since it projects decently enough. Though it receives 0 play since I bought my Taylor 714.

So we've got around 89 pages mostly of us just posting gear. I wonder how helpful it'd be if we started posting exercises for everyone to learn. Or just licks in general.

Not sure if it's possible to embed guitar tabs @a_skeleton_03

We could also just trade guitarpro files.

It would be either licks you find fun to play, or something you think will get you into other styles. The reason I thought of this was.actually listening to marty Friedman play. He has a strong knack for making extremely complex melodies while he plays and plays notes you don't think he will. Got me thinking of breaking myself out of my style that I pigeonhole myself into. Might be a dumb idea

Could also consider a mini contest where we have a collection of licks and do a 1,2 or 3 month progress video. What you sound like day 1 vs day 90

Code:
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
12p11----------14p11----------12p11-------
------0-12p0-0-------0-12p0-0-------12p0--
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------

(all even 8th notes... or is it 16th? depends on what you want to call the tempo i suppose :p)

been trying to figure out something to do with this riff for a long time now. doing it a few times in a row then on the last repeat going:

Code:
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
12p11----------14p11----------10~~~-12~~~-
------0-12p0-0-------0-12p0-0-8~~~--10~~~-
------------------------------8~~~--10~~~-
------------------------------------------

works really well somehow even tho it changes the tonality, switching the F# for an F in the middle of a Dmajor-ish riff being really weird in theory but sounding great in practice...

but yeah i've never been able to put together anything else to build a song out of it. one of my little ditty riffs i've been sitting on for years now.

I felt dirty posting that fake. Here is my 2006 MIU (bought new in 2006 for about 1.3k). It's a gibson studio? i think. They are called the faded models, came in red also. I will never get rid of it. Even if i'm poor as fuck. We got history, tons og gigs and loads of tunes made on it. Action is low as fuck with no buzzing, the finish on the back of the neck is heavy faded from playing. Love it. ( i got new tuners on the way in the mail. I have dropped this thing like 4 times and only broken pegs, knock on wood, thank the noodle highness etc. I dont have money for a head repair) Sill noodle it on the 4 strings, although i got an acoustic.

I've seen some absolutely insane head repairs on LP and SGs. Kind of crazy what luthiers can do.

pharmakos pharmakos gonna play that tonight when I grab my guitar

Went to.my dad's to use his strobe tuner to adjust intonation. It was messed up (from the 80s) so we couldn't. But man the dude complained about my string gauge (10-62), lack of a Floyd, made in Korea, and just Schecter in general. The man is set in his way

Typed those tabs from memory, picked up my guitar earlier and realized I play G5 -> A5 rather than those inverted power chords I wrote there. Tho either works okay, but the way I originally wrote doesn't sound quite as nice.

"inverted power chords" is I think the term that Jeff Hanneman used for them in his old Guitar World column

Well Jeff certainly is smarter than me, but megachords sounds funnier to me. When we did the Dismember cover set, that band used them ALL the time. That on top of the HM-2 (go ahead and youtube the sound of that thing...) made for an extremely thick sound. My wife told me the sound wall from me and the other guitarist was blasting her stomach so hard she felt like she was being pushed around. I need to find the facebook video of that from the floor.

I set my intonation on my schecter km7 finally. SUch a critical step, guitar sounds so good now.

hah yeah wasn't trying to say that he's more correct than you just because he's in Slayer =p

i learned to love 'em when i was working out how to play Neurosis covers. big part of how they get their sound is having one guy play the 4th and the other guy a string up playing the 5th. definitely a "trick of the trade" of the heavier bands out there.

Just got my new cabinet and head today. I got a lot of reading to do as to how to dial this in properly. Here’s my guitars as of now, blonde Tele is gonna be my next purchase.

From left to right, Maton EBW808, Larivee L-03R, ‘99 standard, Mesa Mark V and 2x12 cabinet

Once I get back home with all my extra deployment money I want to buy a 7 string. I've narrowed it down to either Ibanez Universe or Schecter Hellraiser with the sustaniac. I already own 2 schecters so i was thinking of diversifying, but damn do those hellraisers look good.

Shit. I got the deal of the century. A friend of mine used this as a bookstand. I have been eyeing it for like 15 years. I made him a lowball offer in jest and he said, sure. My wife hates it. Fuck de woop di doo. This is a vintage roland JC 120, it's in perfect condition, it's from 76, so one of them, with the original mojo tones, these fuckers go for like 1300 $, never selling though. Legendary clean tones. I'm in heaven. My SG, some pedals and this thing sings like jeff buckley

I have a vintage '66 Vibro Champ that I acquired in a similar way. It belonged to one of my good high school friend's dad. It had been "broken" for years and he said if I could fix it, I could keep it. It just needed a new fuse. I never use it anymore but I'll probably never sell it.

I watch Rigrundowns from premierguitar and shit like this all day haha, but Noodleface Noodleface , about amazing luthiers and broken headstocks, this video is porn, I'm amazed at the craft of the dude, the sophistication (the Joe dude), the way he takes his job serious. It has it all.
