Listening to the audiobook for Chariots of the Gods (1968) the last few days and its genuinely pretty good: . MUCH more researched and logical than the Ancient Aliens tv show.

The author mentioned why did Egyptians think they needed to be mummified to be resurrected? And it got me thinking.

I'm agnostic when it comes to ancient astronauts.

However, let's say ancient astronauts ARE real. The problem with freezing a body to revive it later is that the water crystalizes when it freezes and causes major damage. If someone was doing long-term hibernation (to travel light years, possibly), it would make sense for them to dehydrate the human body, then rehydrate it before waking or resurrecting them from hypersleep.

Perhaps the ancient egyptians saw this happening with the ancient astronauts and tried to mimic it by mummification.

You do know that book is confirmed to have fake evidence right? That guy is a piece of shit.

Yeah but you're saying it's a good listen when it's a documented fraud
What exactly about it did you think is fraudulent? I am about to finish the audiobook and maybe I’m not paying close enough attention but he seems to just be saying a lot of “I don’t know what UFOs are. Primitive people MIGHT have misinterpreted ancient aliens for gods.” It’s more in the vein of Graham Hancock where he’s just postulating ideas but never saying something IS or ISNT something.

You might consider that to be fraudulent but I don’t think someone thinking about a subject, but never claiming it is or isn’t aliens, is inherently evil. It’s basically “you know the ancient gods? Ever thought about how they could’ve been ancient aliens just misinterpreted?”

I also read Gods of Eden last fall, which is similar. Or the Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock the year before, etc.

From what I remember, he claimed to have found items depicting aliens in ancient times .. pots and other stuff? Been awhile so details on that are fuzzy. They found people that claimed they were paid to create those items for him.

Possibly! I mean he did say there were ancient pots that can be interpreted as gods or space aliens. Nothing in it was ground shattering but just a fun romp like an X Files episode.
