The thing that has always gotten me about UFO's... why do they have lights? If you don't want to be noticed, and you don't want to be seen, then why would they put lights on them or have them turned on. The whole point of us putting lights on airplanes is so the fuckin things can see one another and avoid collisions. Dancing lights in skies just seems like human logic and human engineering.

I've assumed some lights are inherent to the tech at work, while anything else is attributed to mimicry or it wasn't a ufo.
