you with the acronyms , what is CICO?
A respiratory insufficient patient where we can't get a tube in or ventilate with a mask, basically suffocating and dying if we don't get oxygen in the lungs somehow. So the cric efona, emergency front of neck access procedure is indicated. It's part of the unexpected / difficult airway algorithm. Minutes without oxygen = brain damage. And with a child, jesus f... christ, stuff of nightmares. So we practice efona, often, to be able to do this and, well, save brain and lives. Here is a random google link of the difficult airway algorithm.

Why did they say they couldn't crike him though? The links are saying the common efona procedure is to do a crike. I don't know enough about what they did to know the difference between what they did on the show and a crike, can you explain?

Couldnt' tube him. A cico. A crike is a type of fona. Not all fona are crikes. Jet and reverse trach are others. My 'merican is a bit rusty here, we refer to it as e-crikes over here, whatever technique is done, surgical crike, canular or jet - jumbling up technique and access way. The key being cico scenario.

Yea on the show Robbie said they couldn't crike him because he's too small or tender? Don't remember. They were fishing for ideas and then the new attending goes I have an idea and it looked like she proceeded to do a crike. I didn't understand the difference between whatever she did and what Robbie said they couldn't do.

Obviously, lol. Brain tumor boss saves the day. Story wise I guess it's okay, she needs to win some points so Robby can go on vacay.

It's weird, because I watch some of these "doctors watch Pitt" videos and they basically all rave about how realistic everything is and is damn near identical to how shit goes down constantly. Disappointing they added this one in as some hero moment when it's not.

I did enjoy how it was basically all the women acting like fucking assholes this episode.

I've been watching this dude occasionally and he seems pretty good: Jeff Yoo, MD | Emergency Physician

He didn't do a video on this episode yet, so it'll be interesting to see what he says.
