Last season wasn't very good. If you aren't into this immediately then watch Eastbound and Down first. It's much better. Gemstones was okay the first couple of seasons but the jokes just get repetitive. Making John Goodman a 90 year old gigolo and having the full on gaymance/marriage was very off-putting. None of those jokes landed. It was a completely wasted season.

Agree that the finale season was definitely the weakest by far. 1 and 2 were the best. Edie Patterson and Walton Goggins were hilarious and the main reason to watch.

No complaints overall, had some fantastic moments.

Concur with Vice Principals being the best of the McBride hbo shows.

Danny McBride’s 40-50 year old child shtick gets old very fast. The fact he had the two other main characters doing it too was just too much. Also I realize it’s modern day HBO but holy shit at how many dicks are in this show.

Goggins was the best part of this show by far. Most everything else was meh.

Eastbound and Down still takes the cake for me on best McBride show. Everybody shits on S2 of that show, but the parts with Stevie in Mexico make me crackup even to this day. When his kids keep calling him "dicklicker"? I laugh just typing it.

It definitely started getting a little stale by S4 when he was on the SportsCenter-esque show, but S1-3 were comedy gold IMO. So many quotable lines.

I enjoyed him justifying why "Teenjus" was the right name to use. But the actual show filming scenes were fairly lame, I'll agree.

Although any time Goggins actually said "Teenjus" was great; he really delivers his lines perfectly.

Baby Billy was really criminally poorly written for most of this last season. Totally agreed on Goggins delivery though - he really nails the southern preacher voice.

His shit for Bible Bonkers was just funnier.

This scene for example is hilarious and I’ve watched it like 15 times.
