Yeah I used to not rinse my rice and the effects were very obvious to when I did finally rinse it. Its not even in the same ballpark, lol. Do it not for the the taste but the finished product is fluffy and not sticking all together like rice mush.

Sticky vs not sticky.
This is absolutley not true. You read this somewhere. Probably written by an Oriental. To be honest, I did it for many years too.

But try this yourself, multiple times. I'm telling you - absolutely zero difference in appearance, taste, or texture.

Maybe it affects the feng shui or something?

Tell us, what do you think the super murky white water that slowly goes away the more you rinse off your rice is?

Youre simply wrong and probably a shitty cook, in which case no matter what you do you come up with shitty rice.

Zojirushi's Secrets for Delicious Rice: How to Wash Rice ...

Yes, washing rice before cooking can make a noticeable difference, primarily in its texture. Washing removes excess starch from the surface of the rice grains, which helps prevent the rice from becoming sticky or gummy when cooked. It also removes dirt, debris, and sometimes even trace amounts of arsenic.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
Benefits of washing rice:

Improved texture:
Washing removes excess starch (amylose) which is responsible for stickiness. This results in fluffier, less clumpy rice.
Reduced stickiness:
If you're aiming for separate, fluffy grains, washing is essential. Dishes like pilafs, stir-fries, or salads benefit from this.
Removal of contaminants:
Washing helps eliminate dirt, dust, and debris that may be present on the rice grains, as well as trace amounts of arsenic according to some culinary experts and studies.
Improved taste:
Removing some of the starch can also contribute to a cleaner, fresher taste.

Is there a scientific reason to rinse rice before cooking it?

This is mostly applicable to white rice. When you're washing or rinsing rice, the surface starches are moved, and with shorter grains have an amylopectin type of starch. [Editor’s note: Amylopectin is a water-soluble starch. Amylose is mostly water insoluble starch; it can be partially broken down with heat.] Amylopectin basically wants to be sticky; it wants to hold hands and be best friends with other amylopectin starch. Amylose starch is in longer grains, and that's more a longer starch that doesn't really like holding hands. Basically, when you wash or rinse rice, you remove some of that amylopectin to help the grains separate and not stick together.

Washing rice was a lot more important historically, when milling techniques were inferior and you were left with more of the shell. I still always do it just to clean the rice. Notably changing the starch content of rice takes a much, much more thorough washing than what people typically do. Where I'll disagree hard with aldarion is that you'll make a much, much bigger difference in starch content by picking your variety of rice. I keep close to 10 varieties of rice in my pantry, and I pick how sticky I want the rice [or other qualities] through variety. The idea that you can't taste the difference between strains of rice is retarded.

This Aldarion Aldarion fucker always has the worst fucking takes, I swear to god.

Even if washing your rice doesn't make a taste difference, you probably want to wash off all the fucking arsenic and methylmercury that rice contains nowadays, at the very least.

Just to get back on track from the stupid rice derail...

Seiko released the heritage SRPL91 which is a modern replica of the watch Gene Kranz wore as Apollo Flight Director during Apollo 11 and Apollo 13. I wish I was a photographer because there's some idea I had. Unfortunately, I am not so just have my iPhone.

Cool history and story to tie it to the Apollo program. I threw it on a strap I had laying around b/c the Seiko bracelet was gigantic, and I didn't feel like resizing that.

All this salt and not one of you has actually tried it

Thats cool. Its important to do what the experts tell you, and never try anything else.

I rinsed my rice for years then I engaged critical thinking, experimented, and found 100% clear evidence it makes zero difference. Keep repeating what you read though, thats the key to being right!

No wonder why your takes are so fucking braindead. You keep eating arsenic laced rice because you've "experimented".

You do realize that rice has always had arsenic, right? This is one of the reasons I don’t eat brown rice. Brown rice is just white rice with extra calories and a lot more arsenic.

Sure, but why wouldn't you spend an extra 5 minutes helping clean off as much of that shit as possible before feeding it to your family?

Maybe he's trying to gain retard super powers.

This board should get commission on sales for this thing the way everyone appears to be buying one now.
Amod Amod should install one of those plugins that tacks on an affiliate ref to any amazon link posted here. Wouldn't be much, but it might help keep the server coffers topped off.
