Original post was one guy's opinion. It led to several stupid and pointless posts that in no way addressed what he actually said. If you don't believe me, I've broken it down:
The very first response was a straw man that had zero connection to the OP, and that was from the guy who made the biggest effort to have a rational discussion.
Then we got a "You must think Islam-based abuse of women is OK!" straw man which had even less to do with the OP (which was about a video game).
Then a call to ignore the OP, which I actually agree with. However, if message boards have taught us anything, it's that saying "ignore him" has never worked on anyone, ever, and the best way to get that sentiment across is by ACTUALLY IGNORING SOMEONE.
Then some pointless insults ("pathetic", "shouldn't be born", etc) that added fuck all to the discussion.
Then we ironically get some moral grandstanding ("You need to get your priorities straight if this game or any video game offends you that much.").
Then we get to accusations of pushing censorship, despite that being in no way connected to the OP. Poster tries to justify this by sounding really confident about how he has the original poster all figured out.
Then some more "holier than thou" content-free shitposts, now with more assumptions made about the OP ("Private profile? He must be scared/embarrassed!")
Oh, and we get this gem, too: "Do everyone a favor and lock yourself in your safe-space room and stop trying to enforce your mental issues on us. We don't need it, we don't appreciate it." This is easily the most pro-censorship post in the thread. Sadly, no one notices.
Then we get some concern trolling from another poster who'd like to see the OP remain silent.
Finally, we end on a particularly egregious straw man: "The absolute worst thing that's happened in your life is you saw a video game where a blocky voxel-man exposes himself to women."

At no point, Mario, were there any "your criticism is stupid and here's why" posts. Nobody addressed the content of his post at all. Nobody talked about whether or not having a stranger expose themselves to you is as traumatizing as the OP claims. Nobody asked him for stats or studies. Nobody questioned the effect the game might have on people who were victims of sexual assault (OK, one guy actually did, with a throwaway comment backed by nothing). What we got was knee-jerk over-reacting to what was considered an unacceptable and morally reprehensible post. Since the replies came from a place of judgmental moral superiority, they didn't feel the need to actually address what was being said at all. They just saw an opportunity to get their dopamine fix by shitting on "the bad guy".
It's all garbage. These people all need to grow the fuck up.

@Tuco, a_skeleton_03 was being a bit coy about it, but he only made this change once I was RRPed. It was part of his one-man secret campaign to make being RRPed as miserable as possible, mostly for me (although he denies this). He really, really hates the idea that I might still somehow be able to derive a smidgen of entertainment from the board when I'm apparently supposed to be crying into my cereal, filled with regret over my horrible actions. How I'm supposed to feel remorse when I'm being unjustly punished I don't know, but a_skeleton_03 is the type of person to just kick his dog until it "understands" not to bark, I guess.Tuco said:

Well, you did start the discussion with the suggestion that Wooly and I could just be banned outright, then challenged the mods to come up with a "better solution". Combine that with your actions while I was RRPed that were kept behind a curtain and you'll excuse me for not seeing you as my "protector".
The mods are biased, close-minded, ideological, arrogant and obnoxious... Just like virtually everybody else. The only difference is they have power. If they are allowed to abuse it, OF COURSE THEY WILL.
You want a better solution? Minimize mod discretion and maximize clarity of rules. Accept that sometimes some posters are going to rustle other poster's jimmies. Stop pretending that shitposting, especially from specific individuals, is even an issue worth debating.
