It's fun. It boosts your ego at the expense of others. It strengthens bonds between like-minded people.

It DOESN'T educate. It DOESN'T expose the flaws in whatever is being ridiculed. It DOESN'T lead to reflection and reconsideration on the part of the ridiculed.

Good criticism needs to have substance to it. It needs to address actual issues. A GOOD satirist (heavy emphasis on "good", since anybody can claim to be a satirist) can integrate ridicule into their satire and get away with it, but that's only because their purpose is to use humor to make their legitimate message more accessible to a wider audience.

The type of ridicule that's popular here does none of that. It's purely masturbatory.

And the democratic party has embraced them with open arms and given them actual influence in the future of American policy. It's just snowballing out of control at this point. This whole not wanting to offend anyone has gotten toxic. We are offending half the country because they are not a minority, to appease the feelings of a few.

And I have said it a million times before but I believe this all stems from our fucked up liberal education system. I agree we don't need religion in school, but we need to get these dogshit fucking liberal as fuck teachers out of there as well. It is the same damn thing as another religion in school at this point. Schools really need to be neutral again. Kids need to be taught STEM and world history. Not whatever dogma their teacher they ended up with decides to fill their heads with. 10 years from now it's easily in the realm of possibility to think that K-12 might have mandatory sensitivity classes, or privilege acceptance classes and fuck with their heads even more. The scary part is these very same SJW's we see today will be teaching our grandkids someday and filling their young impressionable minds with their ideology and that we are all just old whatever-phobe fucks who need to die off already because we are holding back "progress". I mean just think - what if your kid/grandkid ends up with a clone of IRB or Itzena or Tanoomba as a teacher? I'm sure there are thousands of them out there just waiting to teach them the SJW ways.
