The lead "engineer" of NASA's Mars Landing Mission is a jewish clown named Adam Steltzner, who seems to have been hired not for his scientific expertise but rather his ability to bamboozle the public into thinking that the images that are purported to be coming from Mars are real. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the background of this "genius":

"Steltzner, born 1963,[2] is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area[7] and came from a family that was financially well off,[10] his father being the heir to the Schilling spice fortune.[11] He struggled in classes in high school, earned a failing grade in geometry, and was told by his father he would never amount to anything but a ditch digger.[2] "I was sort of studying sex, drugs and rock and roll in high school," says Steltzner.[2] After high school he played bass and drums in new wave bands.[10] He studied jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston, for less than a year.[10] As The New Yorker put it, "He was a college dropout and small-town playboy (he briefly dated the model Carré Otis), an assistant manager at an organic market and an occasional grower of weed. He had few skills and fewer prospects."[11] Around 1984, while driving home from music gigs at night, he noticed how the position of the constellation Orion was in a different place than before. This fascinated him, so he decided to take an astronomy class at College of Marin, but he was required to complete a class in physics first, and it was there he had a revelation: nature could be understood and predicted. As Steltzner put it, "I had found religion."

Here is a revealing video of the press conference after the supposed Mars landing where Steltzner fields serious technical questions from reporters. His cringeworthy performance is more like a stand-up routine you'd expect from a bad jewish comedian:
