For those of you multi-monitor users, a new subreddit just started up that is a collection of multi-monitor wallpaper. some cool stuff in there.

In the market for a new monitor soon. Looking for something to play FPS games (building a system for Titanfall in the spring, currently playing TRIBES: Ascend). Anyone got any suggestions for max performance around $300-500? Don't need bigger than 24-27 inches. Plan on buying a GTX 790 or whatever AMD comes out with in October if it's attractive.

Currently eyeballing ASUS VG248QE

27" 2560x1440 is the only choice in my opinion. Check out the koreans (X-star / Qnix / Shimian / Catleap) for awesome prices.

Do you think the potential for 120Hz is worth buying an expensive displayport->DL DVI adapter? I'd like to get a Qnix monitor, but I have to be able to hook it up to my work laptop and it only has VGA/full size DP.

Yeah, ofcourse. I bought one for 38$ from ebay so they're not that expensive.

FYI you can get adapters for significantly cheaper through websites likewww.MyCableMart.comorwww.monoprice.com. I didn't look at Monoprice but it looked like MyCableMart had them for bout $15.

Those max out at 1920x1080. We're talking about active (usb powered) displayport to dual link dvi adapters that can handle 2560x1440/1600.

Ah, gotcha. I haven't looked, but those sites don't have em?
