Adam Savage is a failed actor with no actual scientific degree who thinks gender is a spectrum, Jamie Hyneman has a degree in Russian linguistics.

So who is this "actual scientist" you're talking about?
he has a doctorate from the Bill Nye Institute of Science.

yeah, i think this argument is sufficient to debunk everything they ever said ever. they CLEARLY don't know what they are talking about and have no practical knowledge of. well. anything, really.

When Cameron saw (on Mythbusters) that Jack could actually have saved himself by pulling off this clever physical trick, he wasn’t taken aback. Instead, he quipped, “I think you guys are missing the point here. The script says Jack dies. He has to die. So maybe we screwed up and the board should have been a little tiny bit smaller, but the dude’s going down.”

So he was misled by a false presentation in what were effectively laboratory conditions rather than the actual conditions in the field.

This is like the pilots being able to make it back to La Guardia in the sims after Sully landed in the Hudson.

I realize that most dude's brains have completely shut down by that point of the movie but this really isn't true.

A) He tried to climb up onto the debris after he got Rose onto it and couldn't do it without spilling Rose into the water

B) Oak (which is what the internal paneling of the Titanic was built with) would not have had the buoyancy to keep two waterlogged adults out of the freezing water, in fact it's questionable whether it would have actually kept Rose dry enough to be rescued with Jack clinging to an edge the way he was.
Did you seriously just "ACKSHUALLY!" a post about the movie Titanic? Whew lad..

a piece of oak wall panel would not have enough buoyancy to keep them both out of the water, it was just barely floating high enough to keep Rose out of the water. If he'd been able to climb aboard the piece of debris would have swamped and they both would have froze to death.

In fact I'm calling bullshit on the Mythbusters that Chukzombi Chukzombi posted after watching it because their piece of debris was swamped with both of them on it and they would have frozen to death before being rescued if they'd been in the same (fictional) situation as Rose and Jack.
The oak they used in the Titanic was Danish oak, and was chosen for its supernatant properties. As a side note, the Spruce Goose built by Howard Hughes wasn't made out of spruce at all, but rather Danish oak.

Coincidentally, Leonardo also starred in a film in which oak had a major role. The Aviator, which outlined the life of Howard Hughes.

This simply proves that if you are on a vessel with Leonardo DiCaprio, you'd better pray that it isn't made out of any kind of oak.
