I despise these self and parent-enabled brats going over and IRL streaming, live streaming should be illegal if you're in a country on a tourist visa, you're making some money from your audience, the platform, etc., etc. Really rustles my jimmies because these twats doing it feel so insecure that they ruin everyone else's day in an attempt to be what? A degenerate asshole that thinks like a child to feed the need to get mommy's attention to get breastfed more than the 1 million other twats.

Put your fucking phone down for a couple of weeks and enjoy life, especially an experience that may just be once in a fucking lifetime. KRAAAAA!

I feel a bit better now. This probably should be in the "What Rustles YOUR jimmies" thread. I didn't know where I was headed at the start.

Stay safe, healthy, and most importantly, happy!

Too be fair that’s how I felt seeing your selfies at meji jingu

thank god I wake up before sunset and go by myself when there is only a couple other people who take the place with reverence going there.

turning down the massage ladies on the street and observing the degenerate stumbling of the night time drinkers while I’m on my holy quest only elevates the sublime tension the park already holds with the rest of the city.

don’t even get my going on people chucking money as if they can buy gods favor, instead of ridding themselves of money and the evil that comes with worship of mammon while giving thanks.

fools.

This might be just me, but imhfo having people walking around with cameras on sticks live-streaming to god knows who in the world is awfully more invasive than my non-physically, unharmful, naive, philistine selfie.

I had not a single problem during my year-long stay, but I'm 100% someone said/thought very demeaning things, but whatever I did never warranted anyone having to come up to me because of some cultural fopa. You must be an extremely happy person if my picture upsets you.

Stay safe, healthy, and most importantly, happy!

My mother came over recently and we went Tokyo -> Nozawa Onsen (in Nagano) -> Kyoto -> Nara -> Osaka -> Hiroshima over about 5 days and the Rail Pass did not cover itself with those fares.

They really jacked up the price and it's basically not worth it for anyone unless you are going to like, Tohoku or Sapporo, or if you're doing day trips to a place via Shinkansen and then back again the same day.
On the JR pass you'd still need an IC/suica card for all the non-JR lines in every city right? Almost every station had separate JR areas from like the Osaka Metro or whatever. If you were limited to just the JR lines because you bought the pass, you might have to take the long way around or you'd just end up using your IC card anyway.

We just bought the Nozomi line shinkansen tickets between Tokyo/Osaka both ways and used our suica card for everything else, we were there 24 days I think we spent about $100 on the suica card total, not including Narita express and Shinkansen which added another $350-ish for 2 people for 4 rides (back and forth tokyo/osaka and back and forth to Narita).

There is no way the JR pass would have paid for itself. You just need to examine your use case and see if it would, but unless you're taking daily Shinkansen, it probably doesn't.

The JR pass will cover most JR trains in places like Tokyo, even to the airport, not sure about other major cities, but the downside is that you can't just swipe you need to talk to the staff there in the little booth and have them check you out. Even with "not needing" a suica or pasmo it's not worth it. It's technically possible to only use JR and never Metro but I wouldn't want to bother.

I got my mother and uncle a monogrammed Suica card and let them take it home with them as a souvenir.

I'm doing another trip to Sapporo this February for Yuki Matsuri and even then the rail pass isn't worth it. It's nearly impossible to get value out of it, which is pretty normal for Japan which is allergic to bulk discounts.

I was surprised you left, you seemed to enjoy it here.

Mum is coming back again in February, going to hit up Sapporo this time and then take the train south and stop wherever we like. Not sure how much longer I'll be in Japan though, with the immigration changes and restrictions tightening and the low value yen and me getting older, might be time to make my way back to Australia in a year or two.

Fucking loved it! Had some personal things that needed taken care of tbh. Then time just fly's! Did get an interview on base for the bread factory but my hanasu was terrible at the time, wish I could have taken the interview a few months later, oh well! Still don't have anything holding me back, so who knows when I visit again.....

i used ai to check prices and unless you travel to a new city every other day, the rail pass is no longer worth it w/ the price hikes
