You know, for the longest time I would get so irritated with movies focusing on Jack Ryan as main character. I'm used to him being the "intelligent side character in the room".

I haven't read Tom Clancy in quite some time....a LONG time and didn't know that eventually became not only the main character but the fucking spine of Clancy books.

Well at one point he even became the President so it doesn't get more main character than that.

He was the main character in every book but THFRO, Without Remorse, and Rainbow Six.

As someone who enjoyed the TV show, I'm looking forward to this although I would have preferred another season rather than a movie.

I prefer the John Clark character over Jack Ryan myself. They really fucked it up with the Michael B Jordan movie. They should have gave Liev Schreiber a movie after Sum of All Fears.

Yeah this was just ok. It was like a poor mans 007. The bad guy was a bad guy because they said he was a bad guy. I have no idea why. Every time I see the guy playing Jack Ryan all I can focus on is that enormous beak on that guy.

Movie was 5/10. Well shot but hard to follow.

Grabbed it, checked a few scenes just to see how consistent it was with the reviews (terrible)

And it's exactly what the mixed reviews said. Mindless action, thin characters with 0 development. It's a shoot-em-up movie, not Jack Ryan.

Wanted to give it a chance because they might do Rainbow Six next-- but they'll need to hire some actors and some writers to get me on board.

Wasnt bored watching it. Decent action and movie moved at a good pace. But completely forgettable and I couldnt even tell you much about the plot.

So, they bring back a legend to finish the job of exposing and destroying some group that was taking the law into their own hands.

There you go. I just saved you some time.

The problem is that I usually support the groups that have to take the law into their own hands. As long as they are not killing civilians and shit. I call that a balance of power.

This was a solid 5/10. I would have rated it higher if any of the good guys had actually died. Just one........

The stupid meeting between Jack and Greer in the UK, where Jack goes "Holier than thou" and Greer gives his "I did what had to be done" response. Meanwhile, you find out later that Greer didn't actually do it, he just took the fall for it. So very stupid. Everything these days is written so that characters talk a lot but intentionally say nothing of value to each other just to further create pointless tension.
