It's the illusion that the Twitch thot is talking to them specifically, especially when they read the donation message, It's pathetic and sad. I can only assume that having a twitch whore read their nickname out loud is the single best experience of their hopeless, worthless, and miserable lives. I don't get it either, and I am actually grateful for that.

Let's be honest here, a lot of us nerds would have been doing this same shit on some level if we could have interacted with a hot girl online in real time in our teens. We spent fucking hours trying to jerk off to pictures that would take a minute or longer to load while on dialup.

I'm guessing it comes from twitch/youtube being a sort of base level entertainment for them. They grow up watching streams and probably hit puberty in the process, and while there is endless amounts of porn available, this sort of thing medium is ingrained into them and while porn makes for fap material, it isn't interactive and doesn't provide the social shit that these thots do. Some chick in a porno is essentially anonymous, while these ones will actually talk to them on some level/acknowledge their existence.

Just throwing shit at the wall here really as I don't understand it either. But I'd wager it comes from something similar to this

At the end of the day these twitchthots and igthots are selling a girlfriend experience. You can see a woman be cute and into you and be the woman you want without all the negatives of dealing with jealously, mood swings from their period etc. you can ignore them when you want. Late to the party but really the biggest reason for those donations is the same reason all you suckers pay for games that you could easily pirate.

You want to show your support and all that, and think they deserve compensation for what they're doing.

i'd honestly keep pirating the fuck out of games if there wasn't a really good chance of getting space aids nowadays from torrents/etc. There is just a ratio of "how much effort is this to steal" vs "how easy is it to buy", and generally games fall heavily into the latter category now since there are so few games every year worth buying, it can take weeks for PC pirated versions to appear, afaik you can't (always?) play online with pirated games, and of course as I mentioned the risk of trojans, bitcoin miners, malware, etc that can REALLY fuck you up and steal shit is high. Just not worth it, especially when you get a game that can last 100 hours and even if you pay $60 thats nothing. Game Pass also fucks up the equation now, why would I really want to buy 90% of games I'll just play them on gamepass (aka the netflix of gaming).

By contrast movies and TV shows are super duper easy to pirate, no risks of malware, and nowadays with every goddamn two bit company making their own streaming exclusive ecosystem its far simpler to simply pirate shows than actually figure out what shitty streaming service you have to buy to get TV show X Y and Z. The ones I feel worst for are book authors, its super easy to pirate that and they can spend years of their lives working on something that is literally less than 1 megabyte. A fucking animated GIF is bigger.

It has always been my reasoning to understanding donations, particularly the larger ones.. some people just have a dumby thicc amounts of cash(or moms cc).. drugs, fast cars, or any other vice just isn't their fancy.. or they get tickled when they make someone else happy; kinda like those humanitarians who go to impoverish nations, risk malaria, and willingly live in shitty conditions.. Only ones that really made sense to me are the ones who want to be noticed, get question answered, or having microsoft sam educate me on how to say ^.

Either way, my experience is relative to those around me who either hit it big during various crypto spikes and bought me video games to play with them.. or made it big on skin trading/gambling and did the same thing.. one even bought me a graphic card because he was trading with some arabian prince w/ an inventory of 20k.. don't know the details, but he had nearly 10k hours logged into CSGO for purely trading during that time(2015?16?17?).

My modern pirating is borrowing a few close friends accounts, and playing the games they play. I have one friend who is a habitual backlogger of games, only draw back is.. I can only play when hes not on.. luckily he just sits and plays wow 80% of the time.

Get a private torrent tracker and you'll never have to worry about infected torrents.

Google any show or movie, and for me, the results show where I can get it. Unsure if that includes all services. My LG TV has an app/show/movie interface as well that I can search and will tell me where it's at. Prime, Netflix, etc.

As you said though, the big reason pirating has gone way down is how cheap access to games has gotten. That and there's always so many patches and other shit that comes out that it's easier to not pirate typically.
