Back in the earlier internet days, trolling was just text from an anonymous person. But now it's not just text. People can make videos hating on you, fellow streamers can hate on you, social media can hate on you. Trolling used to be pretty harmless, but now days you get doxxed and shit. And it also follows you around on your phone, tablets, everything. Shit can even follow you into real life. Everything is so ramped up compared to what it used to be.

It's sad. She was a pretty girl. But when you have a wall of hate you deal with every day it must get maddening.

I stream on Twitch. I know tons of people who also stream on Twitch. We're mostly pretty normal people. I'd say "kinda like FoH", but we're mostly shitlords here.

If you were actually familiar with the platform then you'd realize that you and your normal friends with the 10 viewers between you aren't representative of it and you're certainly not the reason it still exists. Instead, it's the degenerates being discussed in this thread who're really driving Twitch. You are subsidized by a small population of fame hounds and attention whores, the shameless prostitutes and loudmouthed clowns and suicidally depressed showmen and every other conceivable type of personality most appealing to the lowest common denominator of viewers, which is always the largest consumer fraction of any mass media.

So keep that in mind the next time you feel like getting defensive on behalf of people whose job description includes being judged by the public.

I figure if you are in a lot of pain all the time, like say your kidneys are all fucked up and every step is pain and the choice between getting addicted to painkillers or living with pain every second or offing yourself, i understand suicide in that case. So I imagine depression must be sorta like that, there is some fucked up pain in your head that ultimately becomes too much to bear. Only way I can understand how Anthony Bourdain or Robin Williams or 30-something extremely successful streamers can off themselves.

What I still can't wrap my head around are retards who donate money to streamers. $5/mo to some dude as a tip to thank him for giving you 20 hours of entertainment a week? Ok, I get that. Donating HUNDREDS (or more) per month to anyone, guy or girl, just so they read your name out for a brief 10 seconds? da fuq is that all about? The only thing I can figure is it must trigger some sort dopamine reaction when a fake friend "recognizes you", like seeing slot machines light up or getting a perfect shot at a range, which means donating could be considered addicting and needs to be much more tightly regulated and banned for anyone under 21.

Where's the same fury around loot boxes and gambling as around stream donations?
