It's wild to me that tech companies hire for forecasted growth without existing revenues to back it up. But, I guess that makes sense because they're fucking around with other peoples' money, either from investors or a parent company. There's no accountability for fucking up that bad when you inherit the CEO position as opposed to the person who builds the empire from the ground up.

It's a legacy from 15 years of low to zero interest rates. Basically any and all startups could grow quickly even with little to no income as the cost of borrowing was so low. Now that we have money that costs, you can't do this shit any more, but a generation of people don't know how to function in this business environment so it takes a while to learn.

That's probably part of the equation. It would make sense why investors would not flip their shit more often on start ups. Then again, the past 20 years have created a ton of retarded VC firms that do dumb shit like relocate start ups from small towns to SF while telling the start up to cut costs. The problem with front loading debt is that it makes your earnings volatile. It's just not a good practice, even with low interest. All it takes is one retard in charge of the country and you're fucked. Which I guess is what they're learning now.
