I would actually bet there is a fair few elements of truth in it.
I don't know how many of you grew up in sorta poor, white trash towns but this 100% fits with all the stupid townie drama I had growing up in highschool and shit. Small insular community that is kinda shitty and incestuous amongst itself. Highly cliquish and narcissistic with childish self absorbed behaviors and a small circle of people that never really changes the entire time you are in school.
Considering more than half of them seem to be stuck at the mental age of highschoolers, it feels very familiar to the stupid drama shit that went on in my small home town. Just instead of it being it girl cheerleaders and stars from the football team, its multimillionaire streamers with personality issues and its televised for us all to see and has fucktonnes of money on the line to make it even more neurotic.
Whoever called it gamer nerd reality TV is prolly more accurate than I'd like to admit.
