One way or another, Ubisoft as we know it is dead.

With the known and utter complete failure of Assassin's Creed Shadows now firmly planted into the ground, I try to look back fondly at when Ubisoft actually DID at one point produce amazing titles before the DEI/Woke infestation and the industry falling down completely on its' ass due to those specific reasons (And others) at a Macroeconomic level. All while China, who started and funded this Psyop 3 decades ago to dismantle American values comes in to purchase these companies which produce normal games. (We all see this - fairly common sense at this point)

But before all this, Ubisoft created some really good games with some fond memories. So I figured why not write a huge too many words post and a trip down memory lane for some or all of us.

1) Original Ghost Recon - 2001 - Developed by Red Storm Entertainment published by Ubisoft.

I have very fond memories playing this in multiplayer on the original Xbox. A fantastic military shooter with good depth and strategy. Team based roles and just a lot of fun back in the day.

2) Splinter Cell Series up to Chaos Theory.

The original was absolutely fantastic. Once again I played this on the original Xbox with some of the best lighting seen to date with a very strong story line and a strong cast of voice actors. This game really shined though when Ubisoft took risks and took a risk on Cat and Mouse Spy Vs Merc 2x2 multiplayer which launched with Pandora Tomorrow. This was some of the most engaging and fun multiplayer gameplay I had ever experienced. With mercs getting abilities to counter spy abilities and vice versa - from not being able to speak to the opposing team, and I still remember fondly when I would put a merc in a choke hold, and at that specific point you could press the white button on your Xbox controller and taunt the merc before breaking their neck. :p We had a group of 4 that played this religiously. IN addition, the map design to support this style of gameplay was excellent. This continued in Chaos Theory.

3) Beyond Good and Evil.

It may surprise some folks that gamers never, ever, cared about what color a main character was, or if they were male or female or this fabricated bullshit we have to listen to today. People wanted a good story and a well written protagonist. The demise of Ubisoft was invented and infiltrated by mentally ill morons that should have been placated a long time ago. With that said, Jade was one of the most fun female characters I have ever played (Recently Stellar Blade and Nier come to mind for strong female leads). The story was unique and well written, the puzzles and gameplay were fun and hilarious, and the side characters were some of the best written support cast ever seen in a video game.

4) Silent Hunter III

At one point I was really into sub games. I had played Silent Service 1 and 2 and 688 attack sub from Microprose, but Silent Hunter III was the top of the top in terms of WW2 submarine naval gameplay. From the realism to the logging of tonnage and mission structure.

5) Far Cry 3

Goes without saying that this is the game that really put Farcry into the mainstream and for good reason. A very solid story, fun open world gameplay mechanics (That unfortunately only grew and never changed later as Ubisoft slowly disintegrated) but a very well written antagonist that is still remembered today, strong coop, and multiple and fun gameplay options within the world to make it feel alive. From Crafting, to poker, to various vehicles and weapons and flight.

6) Assassin's Creed 2

This one goes without saying as it is pretty much tied depending on subjective opinion to Black Flag.

7) Assassin's Creed: Black Flag

Introducing forts, pirate ship battles/ship boarding, and a solid story. Was the last game we would see leveraging the old play style before Origins came along with forced leveling zones in where XP was actually balanced, then nerfed to entice players to purchase 50% XP permanent gains for their characters to play normally through an MTX shop without blowing their brains out of boredom. Hailed as one of the most unique games in the series and was just a lot of fun.

When we look at the post mortem of this company - how the DEI/Woke infestation slowly crept in and then quickly expanded to destroy this company with forced narratives and political activism, it is important to remember when this wasn't the case and compare and contrast a very stark reality in this industry. Not only with Ubisoft, but with every other game company this is happening to at this very moment at the same accelerated pace Ubisoft has just reached the crash of.

All we can do is continue not to support this practice, continue to vote with our wallets, while supporting the companies where this philosophy does not exist.

The tides have turned. And the return to normalcy is starting to take root all around us.

This is a terrible outcome. They should be utterly destroyed. Hopefully all the employees will get replaced at least and not get moved over to whatever the new company structures are that continue development.

People cling way too much to studio names. Once the talented people who made the good games are gone it’s pointless wanting to keep them around just for the name’s sake.

No doubt, but the issue is that's not how 'investment' treats businesses even in other sectors. And so you get zombie companies that retain otherwise beloved IP and the best case is they pump out mediocre trash. The worst (most common case) is they hire woke retards to purposefully destroy said IPs.

Oh there’s no doubt it sucks. Watching IPs you enjoy get destroyed is a bummer. I still go back and play some of the old stuff like dragon age origins but I don’t touch shit from that company anymore cause they’re just terrible. It’s a shame that they trashed IPs but there’s other similar games/IPs coming out all the time from other studios.

FYI - Ubisoft is in full force censorship. I posted this exact post on the Steam forum:

I remember I was amazed at the physics engine in splinter cell. When you walked into the freezer each little plastic floppy thing they have on freezer doors moved realistically. Blew my mind at the time.

the problem is the family controlling ubisoft wants to continue controlling any new spinoff that holds only the IPs (but not the 20,000 ubisoft employees which is a HUGE financial drain on the company).

they are the ones who have driven the company into the dirt so its hard to imagine anyone agreeing to those terms.

i imagine what instead we'll see is them trying to limp forward with the muted success of shadows, trying to convince everyone that the next far cry and division will follow up shadows sales. it won't. they will continue to shed employees and start getting into a cash crunch, and eventually just have to sell all their IPs to tencent for pennies who will just hire big chinese teams to crank out mobile shitty games raping the IPs

I spent some time here and there over the years with Ubisoft games. They always had incredible graphics, but ultimately, their games felt soulless and cookie-cutter. Them and EA always felt the most corporate of the big game studios. Then DEI happened and they added heaping scoops of that non-sense on top of the Micro-transactions and played out game formulas.

That's because they came up with an "Ubisoft formula" and used it to make everything from Far Cry to Assassin's Creed to Ghost Recon. IPs that they couldn't force to fit that model (Splinter Cell, etc.) were dropped in favor of slop like Avatar and Star Wars that they had no history with and could easily be adapted.

I imagine it's really easy for one side to "win" when they get rid of everyone who disagrees with them and never see any contrary opinions. I never see the other, non-woke side doing that.

For me, Assassin's Creed will always be a fond memory, cause it was the best place to see lifelike interpretations of real-world locations. AC Origins might be the only game where you can climb a to-scale version of the Great Pyramids at Giza. Unity takes place during the French Revolution, Syndicate is in Victorian London, AC2 is Renaissance Italy, and so on.

Shadows seems like it's trolling people and Valhalla was just plain boring, but I liked the rest of them for their ability to take you back to a moment in time. The current devs are standing on the shoulders of giants and don't even know it.

Yasuke killed an entire studio.

Well, let's face it, they've had it coming for a while now, but Assassin's Creed Shadows bent them over and fucked them raw dog.

The Japanese parliament was discussing this fucking game, for crying out loud.

It really feels like the people making this game were doing this on purpose.
