Things to note, this is coming after a remastered release of Valkyria Chronicles on PS4. It is however, a traditional jrpg(or well, modern traditional, as in action-y combat like say Tales or FFXV) and not a turn based strategy jrpg like the original series. It seems to vaguely make use of the IP. The demo will be bundled with the remaster which releases 2nd quarter 2016 I believe they said.

Bump back up. If you have a Japanese PSN account, the prologue/demo for this game is up for download. Im a huge Valkyria Chronicles mark, loved the game, own the psp sequels and have been avidly looking forward to this, but after playing the demo...yeah I dunno. The combat is kinda weird. No more turn based squad tactical battles, it's kinda a weird mix of Final Fantasys ATB stuff with action combat. You have a group of four (in the demo at least) and can control any of them, just hit the D pad down to cycle through. You run around freely, have a block button, a dodge button, and one attack button to hammer and as you hit stuff a little action meter goes down. Once it's empty you can still move around but cant attack till it refills. Once it does, continue spamming. It felt very simplistic and honestly a let down considering the solid foundation this series had. Hopefully the gameplay gets deeper as you progress but this thing being actiony rather than a strategy game is already a letdown. Ill still probably pick it up but the hype has died down some.

What the fuck is it with the Japs and turning every turn based or tactics IP into a button mash action game? Seriously, the fucking original was good specifically BECAUSE it was a tactics game.

Monster Hunter and Dynasty Warrior sales?

On a side note, that guy in the teaser should be careful with his sword, he almost severed his friend's Achilles tendon @30.
