Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines sequel? Remake?

Playtest review

EuroGamer is saying it's about as much of an RPG as RD2/Witcher 3 are. Meaning it's nowhere near Bloodlines 1 RPG wise.

Some are going so far as to say it doesn't belong in the RPG genre.

Company that makes walking simulators is called into pick up the pieces of a failed RPG... and turns it into a walking simulator with a laughably bad looking combat system. I am shocked!

Also shocked (this time without the sarcasm) at them taking "cash grab" to a level that even Ubisoft would find shameful. $90 to get the complete game with all the clan options is just insane. The only upside here is that they showed the GOG logo on the trailer so that means no Denuvo on PC, so at least it will be easily accessible to make fun of.

Don't forget cutting out the 2 popular "problematic" races from the DLC. You know, the ones that people actually might open their wallet for. I'd respect the cash grab a tiny bit if it had Malkavian.

Two out of six clans are relegated to the DLC? No Malkavians or Nosferatu at all? Get fucked.

Nothing says "we have a room full of fucking incompetent writers that cannot walk and chew gum at the same time," as leaving out the two clans whose stories and gameplay would have to be way more than a few more dialogue options and voice lines.

"We have to create ALTERNATE pathways for one and the other ruins our genius level villain who lies because they can READ MINDS? Pass on that shit"

Looks like it might be a'ight based on watching one streamer play for 1 hour. Graphically solid, voice acting is a'ight, gameplay looked like it might be entertaining. Def going to wait for release and reviews before I decide, but for now...

Yeah, they solved the need for writing talent by just putting vampire Johnny Silverhand into Phyre's (that name will never not be fucking retarded, especially since she's supposed to be some 400+ year old vampire at this point) head to appease the Malkavian fans.

Nosferatu I can kind of understand dropping. It just doesn't make sense for one of them to be doing the shit that the main characters in these games are doing. Having to put a Nosferatu-safe path into every quest in VtMB must have been a colossal waste of dev time for the five people who actually cared about playing one.

I have never played Nosferatu in VtMB; however, I want to play it more and it is more memorable because it exists. If they are willing to go that far for the world, then it is a world that feels more real. VtMB is a better game because the Nosferatu path is in it.

sounds like its more on rails. something like control, or hogworts, etc. (I had a good example in my head, but forgot what it was)
so, clan is going to be basically entirely a skill tree, and not story based at all. minor at best.

'phyre" really is insanely stupid.

If Troika wasn't on a shoestring budget and constantly held back by Valve fucking them over with access to up to date Source builds after the big leak, Activision looking over their shoulders, etc. I'd probably agree. I've played through VtMB as every clan at least once though, and Nosferatu is just a damn slog from start to end with all the stuff you have to do to avoid masquerade violations. Maybe they could have actually finished Act IV with all the wasted time spent on it.

Honestly, if VtMB2 was being made by competent devs and not initially designed by people who openly talked about how they hated the original game, I think the selection of clans would actually be fine. You've got Brujah for people who want to solve everything with their fists (which, like in VtMB, largely makes Gangrel redundant), Tremere for the spellcaster fans, Assamites for people who like to do everything with stealth, and Ventrue if you just want to talk everything to death. Not even really sure what the DLC clans are going to add in a game that's supposedly RPG-lite at best. Toreador was a fun playthrough in the original, but here it'll probably just be Ventrue with degenerate dialogue options. Same with Lasombra, they're just Ventrue who are even bigger assholes (Sabbat). Though I guess if "letting Seattle burn" really is an option, that'd be the clan to play if you want to go that route. Probably the best possible outcome anyway.

So they are trying to recover some of the cost of the horrible development of this game by doing a horrible payment tier? "Get the full experience" Pay extra to get the full game!

Why not also add the "pay to play earlier"? Seems like a missed opportunity.

But hey, it's the sequel to a critically acclaimed RPG with a heavy hand on the RPG elements. Which was based on a table top RPG. Let's give it a chance! It might be good.

Has no skill tree other than a line to follow.

There is no real loot or gear. No inventory? Weapons are pickups to be used and discarded?

And outfits with no stats. What (non)gender is this made for, I wonder :D

So like the Ponchos in that Star Wars game which made it completely pointless to explore beyond the beaten path because there is no reward for it.

r/gaming still flying the fag flag at the end of August is almost as fucked up as calling this game walking sim Bloodlines 2.

Paradox should be freaking out that even that haven of woke degeneracy is shitting all over it. Not that they care about damaging their brand when there's nothing left to damage anyway, I guess.

AFAIK there are no RPG elements in this (going off major review sites). It's an atmospheric action game.

The claim that it doesn't belong with the RPG label seems to be an accurate take.

You walk around and beat people up.
