I think they just announced a new set of battlefield rules to move on from the Skaventide set, so I don't know that anyone knows yet. Honestly like anything in this hobby, I would 100% play the thing you like the look of and playstyle of versus power levels. You'll thank me in 30 years. Or not.

The most ridiculous thing thing in early Fantasy was Wind of Death. Undead caster would just S3 hit literally every single "living model" on the board every turn.

yeah, there was all kinds of unbalanced wild shit in the early days. Realm of Chaos comes out and chaos is just OP as hell. Daemon weapons would give you insta kill attacks and you could get a free greater daemon. And they were way stronger than they are in modern 40k/fantasy.

I remember at this tournament in 98, this guy got a Bloodthirster summon off in the 2nd round with a roll of a 6 and the entire store came running over to watch the carnage.

Been waiting to make the jump into 40k, was going to wait for the new Space Wolves models that are coming out. Walked into my FLGS today to get something unrelated to Warhammer and they were unpacking this badboy. I asked if I could buy it and they said sure, even gave me 25% off MSRP. I know this box isn't supposed to be out until late next week but i'm pretty pumped to start putting it together.

Be careful about sharing that. If that isnt suppose to be officially released until this Saturday, and your FLGS gets found out by GW that they had boxes go out the store, GW will whack them as an authorized vendor.

I think they can also get whacked for selling it for more than the allowed 15-20% off of MSRP. As much as I love a deal and want to ask where you got it, I don't them getting jacked up more.

I was looking at good parachute points to get into the game and -plastic- fucking models are like 5-10 dollars each, at a minimum?

Talk about audience capture. Fuck.

I definitely need to look more into local groups before I spend a single dollar. Are they actively trying to keep their playerbase to the same grognards that have been playing for 20+ years instead of expanding the base?

Edit - maybe I'm just elderly or something, but I am positive you would get pewter/composite figures for like 15 bucks if they were a special character or something with extra detail. 10 dollars for a plastic model (regardless of manufacturing costs; plastic is plastic) on a per model basis is basically thievery. Jesus christ I am just floored by modern warhammer prices. I legit thought when I saw the prices that they came prepainted and that would explain the price expansion.

I just play the tabletop rpg games. 40k is a great setting. The wargame is old fart gatcha moving at a glacial pace
