well i'm seeing Jaws in IMAX today because i've never seen it so it should be fun on a big screen, but really there are only 3 reasons to see movies in theaters anymore
1 - shared experience for horror/spectacle movies like this, Avatar, Infinity War, etc. There is definite something "extra" about being in a crowd for an intense movie
2 - social bonding with friends/family, although it is funny you have to be quiet for 2-3 hours but then you can all talk about something together (weak, same experience at home now)
3 - giant screen, massive audio no phones for 3 hours. F1 in theaters is absolutely insane and is not replicated in the slightest at home, and I have a 77" G5 OLED with 9.1 sound system but thats nothing compared to a 100 foot IMAX screen with 15000 watts of sound system.
but yeah, this is not really a movie I'd say demands a theatrical experience unless you love the director or something, it'll play out the same at home. Only movie honestly this year that you had to see in theaters was F1, maybe Sinners.
